WELCOME
The College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) is proud to be ranked No. 2 among public national universities (excluding military institutions) of Best Undergraduate Engineering – No Doctorate by U.S. News & World Report.  Check out all of Miami's rankings here.
Tonight is the CEC Finals Week Study Break.  CEC is excited to bring the students together for food and community while taking a break from studying.  Thank you to AAM, National Tab, and Hanover Reserve for sponsoring the event.
Check out the Outreach Events (listed below) which are great ways to not only engage with current CEC students but future engineering and computing students, as well.  Planning is underway for the DEI Employer Showcase, the SWE Evening with Industry, and the 2023 CEC Alumni & Friends Conference.  Don't forget that Ohio TechCred can pay for courses and workshops taught by CEC, even custom options.
DEI EMPLOYER SHOWCASE
Four student organizations are hosting the College of Engineering and Computing's first DEI Employer Showcase to celebrate Engineers' Week on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 4:00-6:00.

Companies are invited to participate in the DEI Employer Showcase to build their brand with the CEC students, share information about their company, promote current and future internships and full-time roles, and support CEC's diverse student organizations.

The event will be set up similar to a traditional career fair with each company reserving one table and students coming to the tables to learn more about the companies.

This event is hosted by and supports the four diverse CEC organizations:
oSTEM
Society of Women Engineers - SWE
National Society of Black Engineers - NSBE
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers - SHPE

Cost is $350 for each company to attend and includes one table and space for two company representatives.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Colleen Bush at bushc4@miamioh.edu
UPSKILLING

Are you looking for courses and workshops to educate your employees in exactly what you need them to know?

Do you want to add new courses to your current upskill course lineup?

The State of Ohio offers an easy and economical way to upskill your workforce.  Companies can apply for Ohio TechCred for their incumbent and new employees and Ohio will pay for the cost of the courses.  The next TechCred funding round opens in January and can be used to fund courses starting as soon as January.
CEC currently offers advanced manufacturing, materials evaluation, regulatory affairs, and data science courses and workshops that pair with Ohio TechCred.  We are always looking for ways to share the faculty expertise with the community.  Customizing courses for your employees is a great way to quickly educate them on the topics that are relevant to their work and perfect for Ohio TechCred funding.
CEC can help and work with you to develop courses customized to your needs and Ohio TechCred can pay for those courses.
With CEC and Ohio TechCred, you can receive custom education at no charge.
Please contact Colleen Bush at bushc4@miamioh.edu if you would like to learn more and talk about potential education collaborations.
OUTREACH EVENTS

CEC's Outreach Office has several opportunities for both volunteers and sponsors.  Supporting CEC's outreach events is a great way to not only engage with CEC students but also support and encourage K-12 students to consider a career in STEM.
FIRST Tech Challenge
Competition at Miami University: Saturday, January 14
- Volunteers are needed throughout the day to support the competition.
- Companies are invited to set up tables to connect with the competitors and their parents and talk about what engineering and computing scientists do at your company.  There is no charge to participate in this event.  You just need to signup with the Outreach Office.
- The Miami FTC Team is looking for sponsors to help them upgrade their basic robot so their team can be competitive with the long established teams.
SWE hosted Girl Scout Day: Saturday, April 15
On Saturday, April 15, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the Outreach Office have a fun day on campus planned for area Girl Scouts. SWE is seeking volunteers to assist with activities and speakers to come talk and share their professional knowledge and insights.  The Girl Scouts would love to learn more about all the different things engineers and computing scientists do, and how they can take steps now to begin pursuing those careers themselves!
If you are interested in participating in any of the above events, please contact Joanna Hohn at hohnj@miamioh.edu.
