April 2022 | Nisan 5782
As we enter this Passover season, we are delighted to share with you gleanings from each of our Teen Learning programs. It is such a pleasure to get to know and hear from faculty and program directors about your teens. What a talented, driven, deep-thinking, justice-seeking, and kind community. They give me hope for the future of the Jewish people and for our world.
At the suggestion of a parent, we began sending out these twice-a-year parent newsletters. We’re excited to launch our recruitment and marketing season for the 2022-2023 school year after Passover. I welcome your reflections on your child’s experience and hopes for the coming year, as well as ideas for places to share about our unique programs.
We have a number of exciting end-of-year celebrations for each of our programs this May, as well as Hebrew College’s Centennial celebrations on June 2nd. More information below.
As we face a world filled with the uncertainties of war, injustice, climate and mental health crises, and an ongoing pandemic, I am struck by the preciousness of creating space for teens to pause, connect, find support, learn Torah, and take on new challenges. Big thanks to my incredible Teen Learning team that makes this work possible: Dr. Susie Tanchel, JTFGB Director Leah Goldstein, Teen Beit Midrash Director Rabbi Claudia Marbach, Prozdor faculty: Rabbi David Ehrenkranz, Dikla Giladi-Nadler, and Nirit Friedlander, and our Rabbinic Fellows: Jenna Shaw (Teen Learning and Prozdor) and Eliana Willis (Teen Beit Midrash). Please send them a note or thank them when you see them!
Finally, please consider joining me in making a gift before April 30th to help us sustain and grow these amazing programs. You may designate your gift for a teen program of your choice. Thank you!
Wishing you a healthy and sweet Pesach! With gratitude,

Prozdor and Teen Hebrew Institute
It has been a full winter and spring at Prozdor! Courses ranged from Hebrew to halacha to holiday practice deep dives and from Talmudic ethics and Shmita (sabbatical) self-care to justice and equity themes in midrash. Our student body is dedicated, thoughtful, and always seems ready for a good debate! Though the COVID challenges, we continue to find ways to celebrate being together as a community, including hot chocolate breaks and catching up with friends in the sunshine between classes. Our new trimester model has made it possible for some students to join us for part of the year while still keeping sports and arts commitments – and has allowed us to offer a greater variety of course topics with a small faculty team.
We are excited to fully launch registration and recruitment for the 2022-2023 school year after Pesach, including an early bird discount for returning students. If you know a family that would enjoy Prozdor learning, please connect us! The whole Prozdor community is invited to join us for graduation on May 15th to celebrating our learning for the year and the accomplishments of our five outstanding graduating seniors! From the whole Prozdor team, wishing you a sweet, healthy, and connected Passover.

Teen Beit Midrash
What amount of tzedakah is too much to give? When should we rely on miracles? And who really is Plony Almoni -- He Who Must Not Be Named? These are just some of the many Talmudic questions that the teens of Teen Beit Midrash are exploring, critiquing, and embracing. We had a visit from TikTok sensation Miriam Anzovin who described to us how she reads and explains Talmud in her Daf Reactions series -- including a special shoutout to TBM in her recent episode!
We have begun recruitment for Teen Beit Midrash 2022-2023 both in person at Hebrew College and online! We look forward to welcoming back many TBM students and introducing a new group of teens to the beit midrash. Help us get the word out about TBM by sharing our website with friends, synagogue and school communities or reach out to Rabba Claudia and she'd be happy to be in touch. Early bird discount registration ends June 30th and we are offering $100 off for new students both online and in person.
We look forward to seeing many of you at our final presentations about this year's learning on May 11th!

Jewish Teen Foundation of Greater Boston
Time is flying by for our JTFGBers. We are at a really exciting and hands-on point in the program. In February we sent out 130 RFPs (request for proposals) to unique nonprofit organizations all across the globe. Our teen-led boards spend a few weeks reviewing all of the returned grant proposals in March. Following the review and evaluation process, will make dozens of site visits this April to help our teens continue to narrow down their selections of final grant recipients. All of our JTFGB boards are also working hard and doing a great job with their fundraising efforts to support their issue area and these organizations.
Save the date for our annual Grant Presentation Ceremony on June 1, 6:30-8:30 PM, in person at Hebrew College, when the teens will share all of their hard work from the year!
