LMC Scholar of Cognition and Creativity Named Regents’ Professor |
Brian Magerko, whose groundbreaking work in cognition, coding education, and creativity has been featured in classrooms across the country and even in celebrity-led music competitions, has been named a Regents’ Professor by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.

Eric Koob joined the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts as the program and operations manager for the Center of International Strategy, Technology and Policy in the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs on March 1.
Koob holds an M.S. in international affairs and a B.S. in aerospace engineering from Georgia Tech. As a Double Jacket, he uses his cross-disciplinary skills to help the Nunn School deliver quality programming and research.
When not at work, Eric enjoys cooking, reading, going to concerts and cheering on his favorite Philadelphia sports teams!

Chad D. Tyson joined the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts as our newest grant administrator lead on April 8. He brings with him over 20 years’ experience in grants administration, project management and financial management.
Tyson holds an M.B.A. and a B.S.B.A. in accounting, an A.A.S. in intelligence operations, and several professional certifications, which he leverages to provide meaningful and impactful service.
His personal hobbies and pastimes include running, gardening and playing video games with his two teenage sons.

Regents’ Professor Lisa Yaszek (Literature, Media, and Communication) was a featured guest on the debut episode of the new podcast, Every Sci Fi Film Ever.
|
|
|
Britta Kallin (Modern Languages) presented a paper titled “‘… im ganzen europäischen Reich…’: Connections between Austrian, German, and EU Cultural and Political History in Elfriede Jelinek’s Angabe der Person” at the Austrian Studies Association’s 2024 Conference. She also moderated a session at the conference.

Tibor Besedes (Economics) helped organize and attended the Gravity, Trade Agreements, and Policy Conference at the University of Notre Dame. The conference celebrated the contributions of Kellogg Faculty Fellow Jeff Bergstrand’s research and career on the occasion of his retirement.

Aselia Urmanbetova (History and Sociology) organized the Southeastern Economic Consortium’s Capstone Event, attended by 129 students from Georgia Tech, Agnes Scott, Spelman College, Georgia State University, Emory, and the University of Georgia.
|

|
Manho Kang (Economics) gave invited talks on his paper “Knowledge Spillovers from Public Sector: Evidence from Innovation Cities in South Korea” at Auburn University and the University of South Carolina.

Spring 2024 Commencement ceremonies will be held at McCamish Pavilion from Thursday, May 2 through Saturday, May 4. No tickets are required to attend. All ceremonies will be live streamed and will also be available for viewing after the event.
