Celebrating the Class of 2024

The campus community is preparing to honor achievement at the 179th Commencement Ceremony this weekend when the University confers 3,343 degrees. Isabela Tasende (below left) of Panama City, Panama, has been named valedictorian and will present the valedictory address, while salutatorian Shaker Erbini (below right) from Crown Point, Indiana, will offer the invocation.

Campus salon adds stylist specializing in Black hair care

Yvette Wade is a master stylist specializing in African American hair care and hairstyles. She recently joined the team of hairstylists at University Hair Stylists, a salon located in the lower level of LaFortune. Read more about why she wanted to come to Notre Dame.

Opioid epidemic reaches beyond health impacts to influence politics

Vicky Barone, assistant professor of economics at Notre Dame, researched the origins and development of the opioid epidemic, finding links to the unregulated marketing of potent painkillers. She and her co-author then traced the long-term consequences of opioid overdose deaths on the political landscape in America.

Account lifecycle helps green up ND’s digital footprint

Maintaining online accounts and their data for Notre Dame staff, faculty and students is no small task. The Office of Information Technology manages approximately 100,000 accounts, and up to this year, many of those accounts were classified as inactive.
