Irrigation Blow-Out Update |
|
|
RVR crews continue to work on the irrigation blow-out process. Crystal Canyon Dr., South Bridge Ct., Pine Ridge Ct., Old Barn Ln., Perry Ridge, Bowles Drive, Patterson, Sopris Mesa, Settlement and Old Town neighborhoods, as well as all homes on the East side of the river are now complete. We will continue to update the community as the process continues.
If your irrigation controller is in your garage, please provide a garage code to allow the irrigation crew access to your controls. You may contact Ashley Lynch at ashley.lynch@rvrma.org.

A large bear has been sighted on Crystal Bridge Drive near South Bridge Court in recent days. As a reminder, bears can be attracted to the neighborhood in various ways, including trash left out overnight, bird feeders, pet food, barbeque grills and fruit and compost. Please do your part to keep the bears safe and out of our neighborhoods.
Thank you for your efforts to keep the community and local wildlife safe!

Employee Spotlight: Juan Carlos |
|
|
Employee Spotlight: Want to get to know the Ranch House team better? Check out the Employee Spotlight each week, which will feature a different employee.
Juan Carlos, Maintenance
Juan Carlos was born in Jalisco, Mexico. He has 7 brothers and 2 sisters – a very big family! Juan Carlos came to Carbondale with one of his brothers in 2000. At that time, he started working at the Ranch House seasonally for a couple of years. He became full time in 2003 – so, he’s been at the Ranch House for more than 20 years, wow! This extended background shows, as Juan Carlos knows all the history, nooks, and crannies of everything in and around the building. Juan Carlos is married to Ana, who also works at the Ranch House. They have 3 adult kids: Alonzo, Anjela, and Erik. Juan Carlos likes to go out to eat when he can. He loves Whitehouse Pizza and The Goat. He used to play soccer and still enjoys watching his favorite team, the Chivas, from Guadalajara. He also enjoys watching baseball and basketball – his teams are the Dodgers and Nuggets. His favorite trip was in Cancun for a wedding. He loved the beaches, pools, and restaurants. Juan Carlos enjoys maintaining the pools and tennis courts at the Ranch House. He appreciates seeing the results of his hard work, and hearing that members are happy after using the facilities he spends so much time keeping in great condition. Next time you see Juan Carlos hard at work, say hello!

Don’t get spooked by Halloween trash. How can you make your Halloween celebrations fun and spooky without contributing to the avalanche of single-use plastic pollution? Start by carving your own pumpkins rather than buying plastic jack-o-lanterns. This is a fun activity for the whole family. Make your own scarecrows. Dig through your ragbag to find some old clothes, buy a bale of hay, stuff the clothes with the hay, and top with a pumpkin head. If you want to light your house up at night beyond the jack-o-lanterns, make sure you purchase LED string lights as they use significantly less energy (with lower carbon emissions) and will also last longer than incandescent bulbs. Finally treats! Avoiding the plastic packaging around candy is tough. Try candy in recyclable cardboard boxes like Junior Mints or Milk Duds. Or try handing out aluminum cans of soda, or small tangerines. No Plasticween this year!

RVR members may now bring their leaves and organic waste to the Ranch House parking lot for disposal. Look for the large dumpster towards the back of the parking lot and please be sure to dump your leaves into the dumpster and take your box or bag with you.
Last year the dumpster was out until the week of November 21. We hope to have it available as long as possible again this year. We will keep the community informed of any removal dates before they happen.

*This service is offered to RVR homeowners only. We ask that you please communicate this to your contractors.
