SUPPER FOR SIX - FINAL DEADLINE FOR FOOD DONATIONS IS MONDAY MORNING

Thanks so all who have sent in non-perishable food items to help our student teams fill grocery bags for distribution through the United Way's partner agencies to families in need during the upcoming February school vacation week. Thanks, too, to Big Y for donating reusable bags.

Information about commitments can be found HERE. If you haven't already - and even if your student hasn't signed up yet - please send in your contributions by Monday as the bags will be delivered to the United Way that afternoon.

Study Skills in Advisory

As part of our advisory curriculum this year, we have made use of the reading that faculty did last summer - Make It Stick by Peter C. Brown. A section of the book notes three particularly effective study strategies, and as of today's advisory meeting, we have covered all three. These include the practice of retrieving new learning from memory, the idea of spacing out retrieval practice (continual studying, as opposed to waiting to just before an assessment), and interleaving the study of different problem types. Further elaboration on all of these can be found in this online PDF which covers a portion of the book. These techniques are outlined on pages 201-207 of the book (pages 2-8 of the PDF).
