J.N. Adam Memorial Hospital: Her Inside Voice, a book by artist and photographer Char Szabo-Perricelli is for sale. It is the result of a multi-year photo documentation project containing the sensitive images and writing of Szabo-Perricelli, along with personal accounts. It also includes historical support from the Museum of disABILITY History as part of our premier publications in the Abandoned History Series.

Books by Rosanne Higgins, adjunct professor of Anthropology at the University at Buffalo, are available to purchase. The Orphans and Inmates series chronicles the history of social welfare institutions in early Buffalo as well as the history of Modern Spiritualism and the emergence of Lily Dale. Her newest novel, A Lifetime Again, is for sale.

| Treat a child to the gift of reading with a book from our Mubu the Morph children’s series. There are three to choose from: Mubu the Morph, Mubu's Christmas and Blue Mubu. We are pleased to share that Mom’s Choice Awards® has named the Mubu the Morph children’s book series among the best in family-friendly media, products and services. The Mom’s Choice Awards® evaluates products and services created for children, families and educators. The Museum of disABILITY History partnered with author Stephen Nawotniak and illustrator Jeffrey Scott Perdziak, both of Clarence, NY, to produce the book series, which is suitable for children grades K to 3. The books offer lessons on self-image, self-confidence and character development.

The Legend, a rap album created by Avery ‘The Definitive’ Gill is available at our store. Avery is a participant in People Inc.’s Life Quality Coaching and Arts Experience Programs. He lives with a mild form of autism, but does not let that stop him from writing songs, producing his own beats and performing.

| Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders in the Classroom
As part of our Dialogues on disABILITY Workshop Series, “Tourette Syndrome and Associated Disorders in the Classroom, 2017 session,” will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Museum of disABILITY History 3826 Main Street, Buffalo. The workshop is presented by President and Founder of the Tourette Syndrome Association of Greater New York State Susan Conners, MEd. Held in association with Learning Partners, the workshop will focus on Tourette Syndrome (TS) and ways in which parents and educators can help young people with TS and associated disorders manage their behavior. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available. The workshop is $40 for professionals and parents and $10 for students. There is an additional fee of $40 for those pursuing CEUs. | Exhibit Extended: “In Celebration of Down Syndrome”
Our “In Celebration of Down Syndrome” exhibit at the Museum of disABILITY History has been extended and will continue to the end of February 2017. The exhibit, featuring vibrant multimedia and Hollywood memorabilia, explores medical history, myths and facts, success stories and popular culture. School groups and parents, along with human service and medical professionals are encouraged to visit. The exhibit was created with the assistance of Down Syndrome Parents Group of WNY and NYS Council for the Humanities.

Kelly’s Hollywood to Premiere on Showtime Networks
We are excited to share that the documentary, Kelly’s Hollywood, will premiere on Showtime Networks on December 22. The inspirational film is about a brother’s quest to help his sister fulfill her dream of becoming a Hollywood diva. Kudos to Buffalo native, Brian Donovan, film creator and supporter of the Museum of disABILITY History. We were pleased to premiere Kelly’s Hollywood at our 2014 film series event and happy to follow its success. The film is also available to purchase at our Museum store. To learn more, click here.
