August is a time of anticipation and transition for students of the college. On Aug. 10, 240 CECAS graduates walked across the stage at Littlejohn and received Clemson degrees that continue to increase in value. Ten days later we welcomed some 1,331 first time freshmen to campus.
It’s a period of transition for both groups. Our graduates are entering the global workforce anticipating a successful career path built on the foundation of a solid Clemson experience. Our incoming students are anticipating the adventure of beginning their academic careers. On Aug. 20, we hosted the first CECAS Recess. This event gave our new students a chance to have some fun while they learned about the exciting opportunities that lay ahead in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences.
This mix of anticipation and transition reminds me of a quote from the Dali Llama: "Give the ones you love wings to fly, roots to come back and reasons to stay.” I wish our graduates and incoming students all the best as they begin their next great adventure.
Sincerely,
Anand Gramopadhye, Dean
