Spring Fling is Saturday: Music, Frisbee Golf, Zumba, Fire Trucks, Gymnastics, Food Truck and Fun

Join the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District and the Ken-Caryl Parent Network in celebrating spring and Earth Day on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Ranch House Park! We’ll have family-friendly Earth Day activities all day. You can also enter the family Frisbee Golf tournament hosted by the Ken-Caryl Ranch Foundation at 11 a.m., catch Music for Kids by Eric West at noon, learn about our open space and KC Nature programs, check out the fire trucks and fire safety information from West Metro Fire Department and the Colorado State Forest Service, or do some yoga, Zumba or Kindermusik on the stage. The Little Gym will be there with activities and a chance to win a birthday party for your child. There will also be a food truck, Dude with the Food, so you can purchase lunch for your family. There will be plenty of ways to get dirty and get back to nature!

Community Center Wading Pool/Splash Pad Decision

At the April 7 Joint Study Session, the bond projects design team presented the Schematic Design package for the Community Center, Dakota Lodge and Ranch House to the Metropolitan District and Master Association Boards, seeking approval to proceed to the design development phase. Current plans are posted on the Bond and Improvement Projects page. During focus group meetings, open house meetings and via the bond project email address, there was a strong contingency of residents who prefer the wading pool remain at the Community Center. The design team considered this an important business decision that required direction from the Boards. The design team presented the pros and cons of each option: 1) wading pool and 2) splash pad. When asked about the cost of each, there was not a significant difference between the two options. The Boards unanimously agreed that a splash pad is the preferred option for the Community Center. This is an amenity that is currently missing from Ken-Caryl Ranch facilities. A splash pad would have many advantages: a longer season, no lifeguard requirement, and provides a modern and interactive amenity. The Boards also recognized that wading pools exist at the Bradford Pool and Ranch House Pool. You can send comments or questions about the bond projects to bondprojects@kcranch.org.

"Not Just Electronics" Recycling Event May 9; New Fees & Limitations for Recycling TVs and Shredding Paper

Ken-Caryl residents, get rid of your unwanted electronics, appliances, televisions, large trash items, scrap metal, paperwork, tree limbs, latex paints, household items and tires from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9 in the Ranch House parking lot. Many items will be recycled for free, but there are fees (CASH OR CHECK ONLY) associated with several types of items. There are new fees and limitations on TVs and paper shredding this year. Please see our Recycling Event article for a list of items that can or can't be recycled, along with the fee, if any. Prescription drugs can't be recycled at our event, but you can take them to the Jeffco Sheriff's Drug Take-Back Day on April 25 at Dakota Ridge High School from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Also, volunteers are needed the day of our recycling event to help direct traffic and assist residents. If you are interested in helping with a two-hour shift, please see our Volunteer Sign-Up Form.

Manor House Addition

You may have noticed the large tent that has been used for special events at the Manor House has been removed. They are building an addition to the west of the existing house where the tent used to stand. The addition is currently under construction, and the expected completion date is the end of May. We have been told that there will be a few events at the tail end of construction that will require a temporary tent. The temporary tent will be placed on the helipad space that is located on the southeast corner of the property. This tent will be used solely for these few events during the construction, and there are no long-term plans to host wedding receptions out there.

Babysitting Certification Course
