August Happenings
We hope you're enjoying summer. Here's what's happening at LVCA:
  • Spanish Pronunciation Workshop: Steven will host two opportunities for tutors to learn more about working on pronunciation issues with Spanish speakers. Tutors can attend the workshop at 5:30pm on Wednesday, August 17 or noon on Thursday, August 18.

  • Back-to-School Bash, August 19, 11:30am-1:30pm: Food trucks will be dishing out delicious food at this kick-off to the school year. Come have your lunch at the Jefferson School and enjoy some school supply give-aways at the same time! Trucks from SpiceSea Gourmet, Mobilee Delicious, Two Brothers Southwestern Grill, and Pearl Island will all be present.

  • Tutor Training, August 27: We have a long list of students waiting for tutors. Please sign up for our Tutor Training on Saturday, August 27, or encourage your friends and family to do so. The training takes place from 9:30am-4:00pm at the Jefferson School.

  • Joy of Writing: We had a great time at the Joy of Writing potluck. If you missed it, you can still pick up your copy of the book in our office.

  • Treasurer Search: The LVCA Board is looking for a new treasurer. If you like numbers and us, email Ellen to express your interest.
