4 Ways I'm Considering Celebrating My Graduation During COVID-19

If you’re a spring semester graduate like me, you may feel the need to tie up loose ends. But with stay-at-home guidelines, the options for celebrating look different than normal. Still, it’s important to reflect and think about what could help you, individually, celebrate and be proud of your place in the class of 2020.

Reflecting on the Historic Season for KC Roos Women's Basketball

Having your first conference tournament win and first berth to the NCAA tournament is a big deal. It was gutting to not have the chance to play in the "Big Dance" because of the pandemic. Still, several weeks later, we are very proud of our Roos and what they accomplished. We checked in with Coach Jacie Hoyt and Ericka Mattingly to recap the historic season.

Academics

Are you #RooReady for Fall?

"We anticipate being back on campus for face-to-face courses and the full UMKC campus experience in the fall," said Jenny Lundgren, provost and executive vice chancellor.

Public health officials recommend we be ready for multiple scenarios, so the university has made several plans for the fall semester. Classes will resume on time, whether they're in person, online or a hybrid, depending on the health guidelines. So make sure you have signed up for your classes for fall so you don't get last pick!

How Greek Life Keeps Me Connected

Hey, Hannah here. During these times when I have been able to reflect a lot more, I am more and more thankful to have something as close to my heart as the Greek life community at UMKC. I always tell people that one of the things that drew me to UMKC was the community aspect that we have here, and joining Greek life has solidified this feeling for me a hundred times over, especially during COVID-19.

"When this quarantine started, the most difficult thing was to keep my students' morale as well as motivation up. Hearing them play in this recording makes me realize it is they who keep my morale and motivation way up!"
