Development Projects Carry On Through Covid

Entering the COVID 19 crisis the Owatonna Partners for Economic Development team welcomed 6 development projects to the area, three (3) of those projects are new businesses to the market and three (3) of the projects are expansion of existing businesses.  Those projects represent significant investment-each project has either started construction, or is nearing completion:
NEW Businesses=$130M+ investment
Costco Depot:
  • 385,000 sq ft distribution center serving 29 warehouses in 8 states
  • Construction is underway with an October 2020 target open date
  • Projected: 150+ employees
Rise Modular:
  • Purchased existing vacant building and outfitted it for their new company
  • Rise Modular constructs modular apartments and hotels
  • Projected: 80+ employees
  • Started operations
Minimizer:
  • Consolidating operations from multiple buildings in Blooming Prairie to one in Owatonna
  • Minimizer is a supplier to the trucking industry
  • 80,000 sq ft manufacturing facility
  • Projected: 70+ employees
  • Started construction
EXPANDING Businesses=$20M+ investment
Daikin Applied:
  • 150,000 sq ft distribution/warehouse expansion
  • Project complete
  • Projected: 50 employees
Revol Greens:
  • Tripling their greenhouse space adding 10 acres
  • Revol grows lettuce
  • Projected: 25+ employees
Bushel Boy:
  • 80,000 sq ft expansion greenhouse
  • Growing strawberries 
  • Expansion is complete
New to Pipeline:
    Bosch Distribution Center:
  • 265,000 sq ft
  • Projected: 50 jobs
  • Break ground fall 2020

Crazy Days - July 23 - 25

Mark your calendars for an old fashioned sidewalk sale as downtown boutiques and retailers will have wares on tables outside their storefronts. 
Some shops have already started their seasonal sales.  Drop in when stopping downtown this Thursday to attend this weeks concert series in the park 7 @ 7 PM.  Grab a bite to eat from a local eatery and scoop up some bargains!  Many of the shops are open later on Thursdays.

Steele County Historical Society Offers Jazz Jam on the Patio!

The Steele Count y Historical Society, (SCHS), announces Jazz Jam on the Patio, a free jazz concert to take place 2 to 4 pm. Sunday, July 19. The concert will take place on the patio at the Steele County History Center, 1700 Austin Road, Owatonna.  This outdoor concert features the H30 Jazz Trio from Winona who is back by popular demand.
