Friends in Global Health Success Stories Health Counselors: A Key Element in the Fight Against HIV
Ilda Pedro is an HIV positive patient, and Bethe Gavriel is her health counselor. They have grown close and work together to manage the health of her and her HIV-positive son and husband. Ilda is grateful for the "miracle" performed by the local health unit supported by Friends in Global Health (FGH). "I did not think my son would be alive today. Even his hair color had changed. Today he plays and goes to school. He's the one that asks for his medication when the time comes to take it."
Ilda is one of the many mothers that has benefited from services provided by health counselors in the 14 FGH-supported districts within the Zambézia Province as of September 2016. Read more about Ilda's story here »
