We are honored to welcome Khizr Khan as the guest speaker of the 2018 Student Achievement Ceremony, sponsored by Bank of the James. The Ceremony will be held on Thursday, November 8, 7:00 - 8:30 PM at The Haven.
Mr. Khan is a Charlottesville lawyer and author of An American Family: A Memoir of Hope and Sacrifice. 
The Student Achievement Ceremony provides the opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of students and to recognize the hard work and dedication they have shown throughout the year. Students will be recognized for achievements made between July 2017 - June 2018.
A light reception will follow the ceremony. Desserts will be provided by Junction, a Charlottesville restaurant.

Three Students Earn Diplomas

On Thursday, November 1 three students were formally presented with their adult high school diplomas after completing the National External Diploma Program (NEDP)*.
April, pictured, spoke at the ceremony and publicly thanked her tutor Dominique for helping her reach this accomplishment. 
"It has changed my life and opened doors for me," said April who is now pursuing a career in healthcare.
*The NEDP is an applied performance assessment system that assesses the high school level skills of adults and out-of-school youth.

Fleece Jacket Fundraiser:

We are selling fleece jackets as a fundraiser to support our programs. The jackets will be embroidered by Bright Ideas, a local business that is a regular supporter of LVCA.
Jackets are $40 each and are available in blue or black.
You can preorder them at our front desk between now and November 21. They will be delivered to the office by Monday, December 17.
