Need some help after midterms? Nobody said this semester would be easy, but we've got your back. If midterms tripped you up or you just want some ideas on how best to make the most of your classes, now is the best time to take stock. Let’s help each other finish the semester strong with these tips, courtesy of UM Student Disability Services. 👇
| |
🛌 If your first class of the day is online, get out of bed. It'll help you get your game face on.
💻 Turn on your Zoom camera for class.
📱 Put your phone across the room for a while.
🗣 Participate! It helps your grade and helps you feel less removed from your classmates.
🔗 Connect with other students in your classes – they probably want help, too.
📝 Arrange your tasks in order of importance and work your way down the list.
⏰ Be honest with yourself about other obligations and how much time you need to do everything.
⏲ Set timers and reminders on your phone.
📚 Study like you’re making the most of your precious time and tuition.
😴 Get a good night’s sleep.

Academic advising has started 📚
| |
All students should meet with their academic advisor ASAP and before making your Spring schedule. You should have gotten an email from your advisor already, so if you haven’t, call or email them. You can see who your advisor is in the Academics section of myOleMiss.
In-person advising is encouraged (with social distancing and masks), but virtual options are available. You can indicate your favorite courses as soon as the course schedule is finalized and you’ll be able to see if classes are in-person or virtual before registration.
Before your appointment:
- Brush up on your degree requirements, which you can find by searching your major here and then clicking “View Degree Sheet” or “View Catalog.”
- Get your questions ready, like how to choose a complementary minor or what classes you can take over Wintersession.
Registration schedule:
Special groups: Nov. 2
Graduate students, honors, pharmacy, law: Nov. 3
Seniors, provost scholars: Nov. 4
Juniors: Nov. 5
Sophomores, freshman, unclassified, special, visiting: Nov. 6

Do you know someone who is really crushing it? Give them a shoutout in The Powder Blue! Like so:
🗣 Shoutout to: Nathan Lancaster

From: Matthew Hendley
🗣 Shoutout to: Tyler McBride
“McBride has been stellar on the rec court to start the semester. Averaging six points and nine rebounds is no small accomplishment for the lad!”

From: Seth Dickinson

By now, everyone should have gotten an invitation to take a rapid COVID-19 test from University Health Services. Check your email for “Office of the Provost.” If you get tested, you could win a Lane Kiffin touchdown bobblehead or keep someone else healthy.
