Proposal to Amend FGNA Bylaws
A vote on bylaw amendments will be included on the election ballot in September 2023. Please review the proposed amendments here.
This proposal is the result of many months of collaboration among the Board of Directors, Council of Regional Representatives, and an ad hoc group of members. It brings a greater sense of serving the whole Guild community in projects and ideas for the future of the Feldenkrais Method® of somatic education.
We deeply value and appreciate all of your support as we continue to do the valuable work necessary to bring the Feldenkrais Method into the future.
Nancy Haller, President on behalf of the FGNA Board of Directors

In Memoriam: Deborah Elizabeth Lotus
Deborah Elizabeth Lotus (neé Hannam, mar/div Steinfirst)) — born March 21, 1939 in Jacksonville, Vermont, and a long-term resident of Arlington, Massachusetts — passed away on July 15, 2023 at the age of 84 after an heroic journey with cancer, surrounded by a network of loved ones in the last ten days of her life.
Deborah was a compelling and charismatic presence who encouraged us to pursue and live our lives fully, as she most certainly did. Her remarkable decades-long connections throughout the world, and her ability as a storyteller about her adventurous and interesting life kept us transfixed — always willing to come back for more. She was present at many watershed moments in our culture, something we respect, appreciate, and honor.
An organizer for the Woodstock generation, a subject and model in the Human Potential Movement, and an intrepid and curious world traveler long before women ventured off on their own, as well as an early and dedicated practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method® and Bones for Life®, Deborah was an inspiration to all who knew her. She is remembered for her optimism, independent spiritedness, and yes, silliness and irreverence — tempered with restraint and discernment — that she cultivated throughout her entire life.

Ask the Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee is a vital part of FGNA. The committee is made up of FGNA members who donate their time to field ethical complaints and issues that arise for practitioners, trainees and the general public. Two Ethics Committee members are elected by members, and four to five are appointed by the Board of Directors. Committee members serve two-year terms.
The Ethics Committee is exploring ways of making information about the Ethics program more visible and available in new and different media. We’re pleased to announce our new “Ask the Ethics Committee” feature in Guild News. Please send your questions about the Ethics program or the process set forth in the Grievance Protocol to ethics@feldenkraisguild.com. We’ll address them in future articles. Stay tuned!

Dialogue with your colleagues about the future of the Feldenkrais Method!
Did you watch the video interviews with Cynthia Allen and Larry Goldfarb in the recent issue of InTouch magazine on the theme of "The Internet & the Future of the Feldenkrais Method"?
Both interviews raised important questions that affect the practice of all Feldenkrais practitioners. They are great "conversation starters"! If you missed either one, we'd like to urge you to watch now - and then respond!
In the months ahead, we intend to begin publishing "Letters to the Editors" in order for FGNA members to share their thoughts with colleagues based on the content of the practitioner-only publication, InTouch.
Click here to watch Larry Goldfarb's interview, Building Community In The Digital Age
After you watch, if you have thoughts to share, please send them to fgnacommunications2@gmail.com with the subject line "Letter to the Editors."
Please limit your letter to 400 words or less. Please note that final decisions on publication will be determined by members of the FGNA communications team.
