Hi Friend of the CTE,
In this edition of the Weekly, we encourage you to give thanks and support to those around you.

Have a Wonderful Break!

Knowing What We Don't Know: Supporting Students

Instructors continue to support students in creative and productive ways; however, it is imperative to recognize when students’ needs extend beyond our expertise and know what to do next.
  • The Student Counseling Service provides consultations to faculty and staff to help us respond appropriately in student mental health situations.
  • You can report a student about whom you are concerned to the Care Team. Through proactive and early intervention, they (and partners) support students exhibiting behaviors that indicate distress, cause a disturbance in the community, and/or present a danger to themselves or others.

Thank a Staff Member!

Miami University staff support instructors in countless ways. Please take a few minutes to reflect on which staff members assisted you in carrying out your work this semester, and send each a short email to say “thank you.”

Support Students to Prepare
Effectively for Final Exams

With a longer-than-usual break before final exams, it's important to help students stay focused. Here are two strategies to support them for success: one that you can engage with students (review sessions), and one that students use on their own (effective study strategies).
