Recommended Read
"This spooky classic is perfect for Halloween. Its lovely language mesmerized me. I listened to the CD book and occasionally had to pause it to reflect on this or that amazing sentence. A carnival rolls into town, and the reader feels the resulting tension between two boys who are lifelong friends, between the boys and carnival owner Mr. Dark, and among other members of the community. The carnival takes on a thrilling and creepy life of its own, and as this occurs, family ties grow stronger. The ending is amazing and exuberant."

Overheard at the Library
(Posted on the library’s Facebook page) “Today my three-year-old returned books at the Main Library and wondered aloud, ‘But where do they go?’ And I said I didn’t know. She said, ‘Can we see it?’ and I told her she could ask. She did, and a wonderful librarian took the time to take us on an impromptu field trip to see just where the books went after they’re returned. Thanks, BPL. We sure love what you do.”

(*Editor’s note: We looked into this sweet story, and found the library staffer was Cari M., Main Library. 😊)
