Mandatory Pre-Entrance Health and Health Insurance Requirements | May 20, 2025

Hello Parents and Families!

To maintain the health of our Jumbo Herd, we have several pre-entrance health requirements that your student needs to complete and health insurance requirements too. Students also received an email today with the information below.

We ask that you and your student pay attention to these deadlines, as missing them could result in a hold on their student record that will prevent course registration or additional charges that cannot be refunded.

As highlighted in the video, the following must be completed by July 1, 2025.*

You can find complete details on the Health and Wellness Requirements for New Students webpage. All forms will be available June 1 on your student's Patient Portal.

*If your student does not complete the Health History Form, TB Risk Questionnaire, and provide documentation of their immunizations by July 1, there will be a hold placed on their Student Information System (SIS) account and they will not be able to register for classes until these forms are submitted and reviewed.

All students are required to have Health Insurance. If you have comparable health insurance that covers your student you can apply to waive the university-provided student health insurance before July 31 OR your student will be automatically enrolled and billed.

We strongly encourage you to compare your current insurance with the student health insurance using the Tufts Student Health Plan Comparison Tool. Many international insurance plans––such as ISO, WellAway, Medicover, AIG, and Seven Corners––do not meet Massachusetts’ health insurance requirements and minimum creditable coverage standards, even if they include a U.S. claims address. 

If your insurance meets Massachusetts requirements including minimum creditable coverage and you do not waive by July 31, your student will be enrolled in the student health insurance for this year. Disenrollment and refunds are not available after July 31.

The form to waive the student health insurance will be available June 1 on your student's Student Information System (SIS). Note: Your student can provide you with “Invited Viewer” access to their SIS account and the student health insurance waiver.

(Optional) Tuition Insurance offers financial protection in case of a medical withdrawal. It will be available for fall and spring enrollment later this summer via the A.W.G. Dewar website. Enrollment must be before the first day of classes on September 2, 2025.
