Dear Partner in Ministry,
Mr. Rogers famously said, “When bad or scary things are happening, look for the helpers.” Church, you were those helpers this week. You pitched in to make worship happen virtually. You tromped through snow to ring the bell and keep our worshipping streak alive through the storm (pictured here!). You de-iced the church doors, walked the building, and taped over the windows broken by the extreme cold. Because we were scheduled to host GMC Extends this week, you worked hard to get our church building accessible (with thanks to Versatool, our landscapers, who prioritized GPC’s snow shoveling). You showed up to serve those GMC meals when the original church couldn’t because of the ice. You took groceries to church members who couldn’t get out. You checked on one another and shared news of hospitalizations and broken bones and illnesses. You prayed for one another. As John’s gospel says, “They will know you are my disciples by your love for one another.” Well done, Church.
Peace,
Jessica

PS. If you want to help our homeless neighbors in this extreme cold, Georgetown Ministry Center is open and can use some help. They have open Drop-In Center volunteer shifts into next week. They are also moving through supplies very quickly and have updated their Amazon Wish List to ensure guests have the essentials needed to navigate this bitter cold.

There will be poetry, dancing, food, and fellowship. Guests are welcome and festivities will formally commence at 7:30pm tomorrow at GPC. Contact Lilly Gillespie with questions or RSVP here.
    3. The 246th Annual Meeting of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church has been postponed to Sunday, February 8, 2026: Due to difficult road conditions, the annual meeting will now be on February 8. The meeting will convene after the 11:00am worship service for the following purposes: To receive the Annual Report for 2025; to receive the 2026 budget; to receive the terms of call for the Interim Co-Pastors; to elect Trustees of the Corporation; and to transact any other business that may properly come before the meeting. By order of the Session: Revs. Meghan Brown and Jessica Tate, Co-Moderators; Victoria Pedrick, Clerk of Session.
    4. GPC 250 Capital Campaign Focus Groups: Join us to learn about the proposed case for support, based on what the congregation expressed in the architectural survey over the summer and the listening sessions this fall. Our first Focus Group will be this Sunday, February 1st at 12:15pm in the Washington Room. Check the schedule for other opportunities.
    5. Organ Demonstrations: Join Mark Willey for an Adult Education on the organ on Sunday, February 15th at 9:45am. Mark will talk about how and why the organ became the primary instrument to accompany Christian worship and how GPC's organ serves its roles in the church; strengths, weaknesses and a vision for its future. After worship, meet Mark in the choir loft for a brief demonstration of GPC’s pipe organ.
