Associate Professor Nathan Kahl Makes Combinatorial Theory Accessible
Nathan Kahl, Ph.D is an interdisciplinary professor who has the unusual ability to reach students across disciplines using graph theory through the lens of law and English. Kahl, Associate Professor and Mathematics Graduate School Adviser in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, has published twelve articles since tenure, including an article in the prestigious The Journal of Combinatorial Theory, Series B. He has also presented 12 papers and served as a peer-reviewer for 12 different journals. An educator at Seton Hall since 2005, Kahl's is able to engage students and faculty colleagues alike in an accessible way using math like Combinatorial Theory and marrying it with non-mathematical topics in law classes or History of English Language classes, both of which he teaches. It is not easy to create passion around numbers for students outside of the math realm, but Professor Kahl is skilled in this practice. He has also been one of three editors of Locus: The Seton Hall Journal of Undergraduate Research, since its inception.
