Dear Members of the Campus Community:
This has been an incredible weekend for SUNY New Paltz Athletics!
Both the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams won their respective SUNYAC championships on Saturday, with the Women’s team defending home court against SUNY Geneseo and the Men’s team earning a victory over No. 1 seed SUNY Oswego on the road.
It’s an historic outcome for both teams. The women extended a dynastic run with their fourth conference championship in the last five seasons, and the men made history with the program’s first-ever SUNYAC title. Both teams have earned automatic bids to the national Division III tournaments, where they’ll compete against top programs from across the U.S.
These wins were just the highlights from a full weekend of Hawks sports, which also saw Men’s and Women’s Swimming programs give a strong showing in their own conference finals, season-opening wins for Women’s Lacrosse and Men’s Baseball, and two victories for Men’s Volleyball. Fans can find more news and upcoming schedules at nphawks.com.
Congratulations to these outstanding student athletes, who juggle their commitments to their teams while sustaining high performance in their classes and academic programs. Your dedication and excellence make your university proud!
Congratulations are also in order for Women’s Basketball Head Coach Jamie Seward, Men’s Basketball Head Coach Keith Kenney, and the many other professionals in Athletics, Wellness & Recreation who work tirelessly with our Hawks to help them succeed. These triumphs are a great example of what our community is capable of when we pull together.
Go Hawks!
