Then Sings My Soul!

Summer is just around the corner and we are already planning some engaging ways to be in worship together but WE NEED YOUR HELP! For 7 weeks, beginning June 10th, we will focus on the music of our faith during our Sunday morning worship. We will listen to the stories behind some of our favorite hymns and reflect on the message these songs of faith still hold for us today. This is how you can help: Throughout the month of May, let us know your favorite hymns or praise songs. We will use the songs collected to order our worship June 10th – July 29th. This will be a spirit-filled, musical time for us at Parkway Hills! You don’t want to miss it!

Last Friday, we treated 115 Pre-K through 2nd grade students from East Flora Elementary School to a waffle breakfast and carnival style games. This Incentive Day event was in recognition and celebration of students who demonstrated outstanding citizenship, positive behavior, and strong academic effort throughout this past school year. I’m not sure who had more fun, the students or our volunteers who effortlessly transitioned from food production to food service to game leaders. We all enjoyed the children’s contagious smiles, random hugs, and generous thanks. (Always spontaneous by the way, never preceeded by an adult prompting, “Now what do you say?”) The efforts of the administration and faculty at East Flora to encourage courteous behavior and acts of kindness in their students are quite obvious. And, although these children are all under 8 years old, it is not lost on them that our interest and our love for them is pretty special. It is clear we do what we do because we enjoy it! I can’t help but believe sharing God's love in this way is making a real difference in the lives of these children, as well as in the performance of the school as a whole.

Thank you to all our awesome volunteers for making this event so much fun. As one boy, wearing a “It's My Birthday" sticker said, “You made this the best day of my life!”. --Allison Jordan

VBS Planning Meeting

All who are interested in creating a wonderful VBS experience for our children are needed! Join us this Sunday, May 6th at 3:00 pm to find out where you can serve: perhaps by teaching, leading music, helping with crafts, shepherding children, or supplying dinner?
(We will obtain the mandatory background check for you!)
This year's VBS is planned for June 18-21, 5:30 - 8 pm.

May's Communion Offering will support Habitat for Humanity Make plans to help with the next Women Build opportunity: Saturday, June 16th
