Students and parents tell me that getting ready for a new high school experience can feel overwhelming. Does this sound familiar? Don't worry—you're not alone.
As part of your welcome to Valor, this is the first of several email messages to provide information for a successful start to your upcoming school year. Keep an eye open for a new message every Thursday.
Along the way, you can also refer to the Incoming Freshmen page on the school website, which will be updated throughout the spring and summer.

In Case You Missed Welcome to the Nest

We had a wonderful time Tuesday night welcoming our incoming freshmen and their parents. Our much-anticipated Skype call with Valor alums went off without a hitch, and set the tone for a great evening of hearing from faculty and parents about how to prepare for the start of high school. 
For those who were not able to join us, or who had students who were not able to attend, you can find information and video highlights from the evening, as well as instructions on how students can pick up their Welcome to Valor gift! 


Calling All Thespians! 

Take advantage of your first opportunity to be a part of a Valor theatre production!
For the first time ever, Valor is presenting a summer musical. We will be performing Little Women, The Musical, from August 22-24. 
And in keeping with Valor tradition, we will be presenting a fall play, The Importantce of Being Earnest, October 4-5 and 11-12.
Auditions for both shows are on May 11.

Summer Performance Training

If you attended Incoming Athlete Night, you probably heard about opportunities for your student-athlete to join other Valor athletes for summer training and workouts. For more information, contact your team's coach or athletics@valorchristian.com.

Magnus Health Forms

For your convenience, Valor has partnered with Magnus Health to provide a simple, safe and secure way to collect and manage many of your student’s medical records. All student medical records are submitted directly through Magnus Health.
The best part is that once you’ve completed and uploaded your student's documents, you will only need to update them each year. Another benefit is the parent customer service line available to assist with any questions about the Magnus Health website: 877.461.6831.
Next week, watch for your welcome email message from Magnus Health. The welcome message will provide you with a link to their system and your login credentials. 
Student medical forms are due by July 15 and are required for school attendance. We recommend that you get started right away as some of the forms require a physician signature.

Course Selection & Placement Testing

Freshman students who have not already attended a Course Request Workshop or registered for classes, please join us Monday, April 29 at 6:30pm at the Valor Center. Our Academic and College Counseling team will walk you and your student through freshmen course selection and make sure your student gets off to a great start.
If your student is interested in testing into a higher class for World Language and Math, please contact Sheila Beckie.
