Continuing a Culture of Generosity

Our students' lives are tangible examples of God's love present at work at Valor. One way we can express love to students is by giving to them as God as given to us.
This week, generous donors like you began to give year-end gifts to Valor. Your giving helps create opportunities for students to explore their passions and learn in a safe environment with godly mentors.
THANK YOU for your care for Valor students and your partnership with us in reaching all students with the love of Christ.

Spirit of Sharing - Student Leadership Showing Off Giving

Giving Back During Spirit of Sharing Week

Thanks to the student body, our Valor community, and our student leadership team, we were able to gather new clothing, toys, games, blankets, gift cards, and so much more. This year's donation items will be distributed to the American Childhood Cancer Association, Denver Dream Center, Hope House of Colorado, and Open Door Ministries.

A Note from the Deans Office - Finals Week Dress Code

As we approach the end of the semester and Christmas break, our students may be tempted to "dress down". In particular, finals have proven to be challenging with reference to our dress code. However, studies show when students are in professional attire while taking tests or assessments they actually perform better.
Occasionally, The Dean's office may identify specific “dress-down” days by pre-announcement. On these days, students may also wear sweatpants and athletic shorts. Finals and AP testing days may also be dress down days at the discretion of the Dean's office. When this occurs, clothing must meet the spirit of the Valor dress guidelines. i.e. yoga pants, jeggings, and leggings are appropriate only when worn with tops that cover the rear-end and encircle the front and the back. Extremely short shorts and runner’s shorts are prohibited.
Dress code will be applied to all “spirit or theme days” during Homecoming and Prom week and dress must adhere to the theme. If students decide not to participate in the theme, they must adhere to the regular dress guidelines.
Finals have not been designated as dress down days and as such, please note that dress code guidelines will be applied for the duration of finals and our modified days of preparation. Students found out of dress code must correct the infraction before going to class or taking their Final.
We wish your student good luck with Finals, we are certain that they will be well prepared. They have earned a well-deserved break. Thank you for your partnership.

Course Change Requests

Course Change Requests for the Spring semester are due on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 4:00 pm. A parent signature is required on the form to have the request considered. All forms should be turned in to the box outside of the Counseling Office or directly to your student's counselor.
Families were sent a course list last June for the entire 2019–20 school year. Please refer to this list if your student is unsure of their courses for the second semester of this year. Updated schedules will be available to families in early January 2020.

Finals and Modified Schedules

Students will follow Modified Schedules on December 9-12. World Language, Bible, and elective finals will be given throughout the week. Teachers will notify students of their exam dates and details. View modified schedules and final exam details.

Missing a Final Exam?

Students missing a final due to illness will need to make an appointment for a make-up exam with individual teachers. The Academic Dean, Mrs. Rebecca Thomas, must pre-approve any make-up exams needed after December 19. There will be a $100 sitting fee for all exams taken after December 19.

Opportunity to Join Great Discovery Teams

Spots have opened up on the Discovery South Africa team, so this exciting and impactful trip is now accepting applications from all students. Also still accepting applications are Peru Family, Denver Spring and Denver Summer. Applications can be submitted online.

Still Have Library Materials?

All Valor Library materials were due on Friday, December 6. Please contact a librarian if you would like to check out materials over the break. Email questions to librarians@valorchristian.com.
