Our top priority will always be your health and safety, as well as our employees. Now, with COVID-19, we have altered our care models to provide safe, convenient and compliant care through the use of telehealth. It may not be appropriate for every encounter, but we consider it as our first option to keep safety at the forefront of everything we do.

Here are a few recent stories of how we are serving our cilents safely. If you are in need of mobility solutions, please contact your local NSM branch.

A letter from Stacey, mother of JT, an NSM client

I just wanted to express my sincere appreciation and acknowledgment to Will McKeon (ATP, Franklin, MA) and Michelle Donohue (Virtual Physical Therapist) for today’s wheelchair evaluation!

Will was awesome with JT and followed the COVID-19 protocols perfectly. Both he and Michelle treated JT with respect and kindness. It was a stress-free process during this very challenging time.

Here are two pictures we wanted to share. This is actually his current chair as the recent evaluation was for his new chair which he is going to be able to have some added features from this recent visit/eval. He anticipates the delivery to be in August. By having the remote PT eval and contactless visit he did not have a delay in this process. For this we are very grateful. Will and Michelle treated him with great care, dignity and respect. He laughed and was excited for the first time a long time!

His chair is his lifeline to the outside world which now in addition to COVID-19, his severe allergies, physical disability and medical issues place limits on many activities so the fact that he can be outside and enjoy the fresh air is huge!

With the uncertainty of the exact timing of school being back in session, 8th grade teacher Sonja Wimberly was not about to let the COVID-19 pandemic get in her way of getting out of her loaner chair and into her new power chair. NSM Atlanta ATP and Branch Manager, Connie Divine, worked with Sonja and her Shepherd Center Occupational Therapist (OT) to deliver Sonja's chair while her OT participated via Microsoft Teams.

Teams worked flawlessly and Sonja’s Shepherd Center OT not only enjoyed advising Connie on seating recommendations, but also commented that the telehealth option is giving her the added perk of seeing client’s homes – which she never does because clients usually come to her at the center.

All in all, Sonja, her OT and Connie were pleased with the outcome of the telehealth delivery – especially Sonja who no longer has to worry when school is back in session – because now she’s ready!
