[3] Recognizing the History,

Culture, and Contributions

of Black Americans

The origins of Black History Month can be traced back to the early 20th Century. Decades later in 1976, President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month and called upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history." Learn more about the black-led nonprofit organizations making history, how you can help, and heroines and heroes from Washington State history.

[4] It's Time for You to Pick Your PIC

Peer-to-peer information exchanges are a key asset offered through WSAE membership. Such exchanges help you establish new, as well as maintain current relationships. In addition, they help you maximize your learning and networking potential. That is why WSAE launched earlier this month its new Professional Interest Categories (PICs). PICs will help you identify WSAE programs and services you are most interested in and/or align with your career. Go to your online member profile and designate those Professional Interest Categories that most interest you.
