Practice-Based Learning in Action
The Cold Case Partnership class in CASL gives students studying Criminal Justice a chance to investigate decades-old cases with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Associate professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Don Shelton, former Washtenaw County Circuit Court judge says, “Practice-based learning gets students connected to the real-world experience of the jobs they are interested in pursuing.”
In a partnership with Monroe County Sheriff, Troy Goodnough (a UM-Dearborn alum), the class became a way for students to comb through evidence to “provide modern-day clues” in addition to being “fresh eyes” on these older cases. Read more or Watch the Video!
