Football: Waters, East Nashville run over Independence to spoil homecoming
By Joe Williams • Sports Writer
THOMPSON'S STATION – Someone forgot to tell East Nashville High School running back Tre’Quan Waters that Friday night was set aside for homecoming festivities and honoring the 2015 State Championship team at Independence.
The senior pounded out 248 yards and three touchdowns on a bruising 38 carries as the visiting Eagles spoiled Indy’s big night with a 32-7 victory.
“They are good. Give them a lot of credit,” Indy coach Scott Stidham said after the game. “They haven’t given up many points this year and they didn’t tonight.”

Football: McGavock takes advantage of turnovers to sink Admirals
By David Dawson • Sports Writer
NASHVILLE — Franklin High School football head coach Alex Melton knew his team had only a small margin of error on Friday night.
Unfortunately for the Admirals, they drifted outside of it on several occasions.
Traveling to McGavock for a non-district game, the Admirals suffered three costly turnovers and missed out on several key third-down opportunities during a 35-14 loss to the Raiders.
McGavock’s defense converted all three of Franklin’s turnovers into touchdowns, including returning a pair of interceptions for scores.

Football: Ravenwood overcomes slow start, clips Commandos in non-region tilt

BRENTWOOD – The first score may have gone to the visiting team Friday night, but the Ravenwood High School football team limited Hendersonville the rest of the way on the way to a 27-10 Week 6 win.
Coming off a 28-10 victory last week in the Battle of the Woods against Brentwood, things didn’t start the way the Raptors planned against the Commandos. Quarterback Chris Parson was intercepted on the opening drive and Hendersonville struck first on a 3-yard touchdown run by Stevin Mack.

Ethan Cunningham rushed for three touchdowns and Colin Hurd threw for two more – including one to Cunningham – as the Page High School football team rolled up more than 500 yards of offense in a trip to Pulaski.
The Patriots claimed a 45-28 win at Giles County behind a strong first half and the legs of Cunningham.
The junior struck twice in the first quarter, snagging a 61-yard catch and run TD from Hurd and racing 63 yards to the end zone on the next Page possession.

Football: Davidson collects 4 TDs as GCA improves to 5-1
Herald Sports
FRANKLIN – Kyle Davidson did a little bit of everything Friday night in a Week 6 high school football game at Grace Christian Academy.
The junior rushed for three touchdowns, hauled in a 20-yard strike, snagged an interception and produced two big kickoff returns as GCA picked up a 37-7 non-region win against visiting Webb School.
Lions quarterback Jackson Hiett added two touchdown passes – both in the first quarter – as GCA went on to score the first 37 points. Hiett hit Trace Phillips for a 33-yard score early and CJ Tinnon ran in the two-point conversion.
