LONGVIEW PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWSLETTER

We're rocking out at the library through July! Our grand finale Summer Picnic, held at 6 PM on Tuesday, July 31, features the band Micah and Me! Dance with the band on the library lawn and enjoy free snow cones and hot dogs, courtesy of Foster Farms, the Early Bird Lions, and the Friends of the Longview and Kelso Libraries!

But before we get there, we have several other amazing events for the family. Meet the Kelso High School Marching Band on July 11th at our Instrument Petting Zoo and learn about the instruments they play. Practice panning for gold with the Southwest Washington Gold Prospectors at the Geology Rocks event on July 18th. Make several different types of percussion instruments to take home at Make and Shake on July 25. These Wednesday events are all at 3 PM, and the whole family is invited!

There is also still time to sign up and earn prizes for reading! Come into the library or click on the "Beanstack" link on our website to get started!

Thanks to the Longview Rotary Club, every kid, from birth through high school, who signs up for the Summer Reading Program gets a FREE BOOK! We are very grateful to Longview Rotary for promoting reading in our community!

Culture Card 2018-19 Season. Tickets will become available at 10 AM on the following dates: August 8 (for shows in September), September 26 (for shows in October, November), October 24th (for shows in November, December, January), January 9th (for shows in February, March, April), March 13 (for shows in April, May, June)

Culture Card Tickets Available Soon!

Did you know you can use your library card to check out free tickets to local shows at the Stageworks Northwest Theatre, Columbia Theatre, and the Kelso-Longview Community Concert Association? You can with our Culture Card program! Culture Cards give Longview Public Library patrons an opportunity to enjoy a variety of performances in our area and appreciate the amazing talent in our own backyard. The 2018-2019 Culture Card Season begins in August, and the first batch of tickets will be ready to check out at 10:00 a.m. on August 8th.
