Upcoming Award Deadlines by College

Please note: many awards fall into more than one category or college. Read the eligibility requirements or contact ONIF for assistance.

All or Multiple Disciplines 
Humane Studies Fellowship- Deadline: April 1! The Humane Studies Fellowship is a renewable, non-residency award of up to $15,000 per year to support current or future students in PhD programs. Intended for graduate students with an interest in developing, teaching, and applying classical liberal ideas and the principles of a free society, this program supports research and teaching in the humanities and social sciences.

Calaveras Big Tree Associate (CBTA) Emily M. Hewitt Memorial Scholarship- Deadline: April 15. A monetary award of $1,500.00 for a promising California upper division or graduate student, who has shown an educational and career commitment to the study of the environment, shows a commitment to communicate and interpret a love of nature, and an understanding of need to practice conservation.

Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) Global Leaders Program- Deadline: April 22 for Fall 2018. A 15 week internship program working in Congressional and corporate offices in Washington D.C. Students will work on project-based programs that provide hands-on experience and also strengthen their understanding of public policy and will also earn academic credit hours from the George Washington University. Covers housing, round trip airfare, and a living/travel stipend. Must be Juniors, Senior, or within one (1) calendar year of graduation. Must be enrolled or recently graduated from a 4-year college or university. Must be fully available for program dates and complete the entire semester. Preference given to applicants of Hispanic, Latino, and/or Portuguese decent.

School of Film & Television
Austin Film Festival Screenplay and Teleplay Competition- Deadline: March 30 or April 20. **Note: application fee required for this competition.For over two decades, Austin Film Festival has been catapulting writers into life-changing careers. With one of the most noteworthy competitions among Hollywood tastemakers, AFF consistently yanks newcomers from the isolation of their desks and ushers them into the bustling world of film and television. All entrants receive FREE “Reader Comments” which are a brief, overall summary of their notes. As an added bonus, for Second Rounders (the top 15-20% in each category) and above, entrants receive further comments from 2-3 readers. Finally, Second Rounders may also find a personalized, handwritten note in their notification letter from the Screenplay Competition Director!

Frank R. Seaver College of Science & Engineering
Brown and Caldwell Scholarships- Deadline: April 15. Brown and Caldwell offer $5,000 scholarships for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the environmental profession. Open to students enrolled in their Junior, Senior year or graduate program at an accredited college/university. Must have a declared major in civil, chemical or environmental engineering or one of the environmental sciences (e.g. geology, hydrogeology, ecology). Multiple scholarships available including GLBTQ, Minority, and Women in Leadership scholarships. 

AFCEA STEM Major Scholarship for Graduate Diversity Students- Deadline: April 20. For the 2018-2019 academic year scholarships of $3,000 will be awarded to full-time students (women and minority students), enrolled in their second semester and at least two semester-equivalent courses) currently pursuing a graduate degree at any accredited academic institution in the United States and living in the United States in an eligible major that supports the mission of AFCEA Educational Foundation.  
Other Notable Opportunities
PPIA Public Service Weekend at the University of Colorado Denver- Priority Deadline: April 1, Regular Deadline: May 1. Apply to attend this exciting weekend (Thursday, June 7 – Sunday, June 10, 2018) conference hosted by the University of Colorado Denver’s School of Public Affairs. You will learn and network with prominent local, state and federal officials to prepare for and gain a better understanding of what it means to have a career in public service. Travel and room & board are covered for attendees.
