Ahimsa towards your body and yourself, in asana and everyday life.

You may struggle with your body because of an injury or illness.
You may struggle with your body because you're an athlete who isn't achieving the peak performance you once did.
You may struggle with your body because it ages.
You may struggle with body image issues, or have an eating disorder.

Most of us at one time or another have treated our bodies as a thing that needs to look, perform, or heal exactly as our minds deem it.  In my opinion, the body does not respond well to a mind that views it as a separate entity to be mastered.
There are some practices taught as Yoga that tout perfection in postures and mastery over the body.  I want to clarify that this is not the goal in true Yoga.  The first of the 8 limbs of Yoga is Ahimsa; translated as kindness and compassion.
It is the most important attitude which is gained by our practices of Yoga.  Therefore, as we practice we grow kinder with ourselves, and our bodies.

I encourage you to enjoy the bounty that is your body in your movement practice as well as in everyday life.
