Mount introduces new Humanities@Work bachelor’s program, with tuition at $6,500 per year
Students will soon be able to get a $6,500 per year humanities-based education at Mount Saint Mary College: Beginning in the Fall 2021 semester, the college will offer Humanities@Work, a new Interdisciplinary bachelor’s program that fuses coursework with hands-on service and internship experience.
Humanities@Work will also offer a four-year tuition lock, and a four-year graduation guarantee.
From English to History to Philosophy and everything in between, this robust program mixes a variety of courses across disciplinary areas, co-curricular seminars, research projects, and internships for a dynamic student experience with real results. It offers students a high degree of flexibility and customization of their degree, handing them the keys to their own academic destiny. Mount Nursing majors administer COVID-19 vaccinations
About 50 Mount Saint Mary College Nursing majors are administering COVID-19 vaccinations to doctors, nurses, and other staff at four local hospitals.
The effort has been supervised by Lynette DeBellis, a Mount Nursing instructor and a 1985 alumna of the college. Under the guidance of DeBellis and other healthcare professionals, Mount students have been giving the vaccine to medical staff of three hospitals in the Nuvance Health system since before Christmas.
The students underwent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) training to become certified vaccinators, DeBellis explained. Read More

Mount, Bishop Dunn honor nearly 50 longtime employees
Mount Saint Mary College recently honored nearly 50 longtime personnel for their dedicated service to the college.
Also recognized were teachers and administrators from Bishop Dunn Memorial School who are celebrating milestones. Bishop Dunn is located on the Mount campus.
The college’s longest serving professor, James Finn Cotter, who taught English at the Mount, retired in 2020. Now, three professors – William Lahar (Chemistry), John Reilly (History), and Thomas Sarro (Biology) – share that distinction. All three are celebrating 45 years of service, having started their careers at the Mount in 1975. Read More

Mount staff member earns LEAD award from Leadership Orange
At the recent graduation ceremony for the 2019-2020 Leadership Orange class, Margaret Treacy ’13, director of Annual Giving at Mount Saint Mary College, was presented with the program’s LEAD Award in recognition of her dedication and skill.
Leadership Orange’s LEAD (Learn, Evolve, Advance, Develop) Award is given to the class participant who has absorbed and embraced the sessions and the program and whose enthusiasm and participation has helped to dramatically improve their leadership qualities. Treacy was nominated by her classmates.

Mount’s Go Blue campaign raises $43,000 for scholarships, clubs, and more
Mount Saint Mary College’s Go Blue virtual fundraiser recently earned more than $43,000 for a variety of departments, scholarships, and clubs at the college.
For the fundraiser, “Mount champions” advocated and raised money for their program, discipline, project, sport, scholarship, and other causes. These champions set goals for their fundraising initiative, and when that goal was achieved, they dyed their hair blue – one of the Mount’s school colors. Participating groups included Athletics, Campus Ministry, the Internship Fund, the Student Emergency Fund, HEOP, and more. Read More

Mount grad student named Student Nurse Practitioner of the Year
Mount Saint Mary College graduate student Benjamin Hayes ’15, FNP-S was recently named Student Nurse Practitioner of the Year by the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York State.

COVID can’t stop Mount student teachers
In the Fall 2020 semester, more than 30 Mount Saint Mary College student teachers took the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic head-on.
While one might expect people to opt out of student teaching due to the pandemic, the opposite is true at the Mount. This semester saw an increase of more than 10 student teachers at the Mount, and more than 40 Mount teaching candidates are expected to student teach during the Spring 2021 semester. About 50 more have applied to student teach during the Fall 2021 semester. Read More
