| Storytelling Guide Seeks to Help Cultivate Effective and Powerful Stories
Created by the National HCH Council’s National Consumer Advisory Board, our new Storytelling Guide offers practical advice from individuals with the lived experience of homelessness to other individuals seeking to share their experience of homelessness. Sharing stories has the power to build empathy, connect people, and change perspectives. Storytelling allows us to share our personal experiences to move discussions of homelessness and health care from a focus on individual failures towards discussions aimed at solutions to the larger root causes of poverty and illness. To help tell their own stories, this guide offers strategies and tips to help tell effective stories and highlight the reality of homelessness–from tips on public speaking to ideas for publicizing your story.
