A new Stellenbosch University study has found that more than a third of South Africa’s baby foods contain added flavourings - most of them sweet. Vanilla, caramel, chocolate, honey and even Rooibos topped the list.
While early exposure to sweet flavours can shape lifelong taste preferences, Rooibos stands apart: it’s naturally caffeine-free, gentle on little tummies and doesn’t rely on added sugars or artificial sweetness to taste good.
As concerns grow over misleading baby food labels and sugary additives, Rooibos continues to offer a pure, naturally soothing option for parents who want to introduce their babies to real, unflavoured goodness.

A fresh piece of skincare news is making waves: according to NewsBytes, green Rooibos - the unfermented form of the famed South African tea plant - is proving to be a buzzy new ingredient in beauty routines.
Why the interest? NewsBytes reports that green Rooibos is especially rich in antioxidants such as aspalathin and nothofagin, which help neutralise free radicals and reduce oxidative stress - key culprits behind ageing skin. It also boasts anti-inflammatory qualities that may soothe irritated or sensitive skin, and is credited with supporting hydration and promoting a more even skin tone.
