This year's event is part two of last year’s Summit on Evangelism.
Dr. Phil Maynard
Dr. Phil Maynard, the keynote speaker and author of best-selling book, Shift 2.0, will share the next step after evangelism of making disciples. As United Methodists, our faith and history represent a lifestyle of building relationships and changing lives. Discipleship, or making and training disciples, affirms and supports a transformative way of life for Christians.

This year's event takes place Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Crossgates United Methodist Church in Brandon. The Summit is a forum to connect our witness with our work as we make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

The one-day summit will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $75 for clergy (with .8 CEUs available for clergy who register and attend) and $25 for laity. Click here for more information and to register.

Our Trick or Treat Trail is Sunday, Oct. 22 from 5 - 7 pm. All ages are welcome to attend. Starting at 5 pm, children will travel the trail for activities, games and treats. At 6 pm, we will have our chili cookoff provided by our staff. Come try different chili recipes and vote on the best one. The winner will be announced at the end of the night, with the prize money designated for the winner's charity pick. Former cook-off winners: Joe Williams for Webster Animal Shelter and David White for Mississippi Methodist Children's Home. Bring a chair. For more information, contact Haven.
We are in need of donations for our annual Trick or Treat Trail on October 22. Please drop off candy donations in the foyers of the worship center or the education building. If you have questions about candy, please contact Haven
This fall’s 2023 T.W. Lewis Lecture Series at Galloway UMC in Jackson, Mississippi, on "Jesus and a Just Society" will be "A Gospel Response:  Access to Healthcare."  As people of faith, we will look at the compelling reasons it should matter to us, that all Mississippians have access to good healthcare and hospitals. Jesus was quite insistent in his love command, telling us we’re to love our neighbors as ourselves. Though we will speak to it, our direct focus will not be on the legislative issue of Medicaid Expansion. Ours is a larger issue, a kingdom of God issue; an issue we believe matters to the God who made us. So, how then do we think about access to good healthcare for all of our people in Mississippi?

Instead of just one keynote speaker, Galloway UMC has arranged for several Mississippians who’re already working in this arena. Here are the presenters: Rev. Dr. Chuck Poole, Rev. Dr. Jason Coker, Dr. Sandra Melvin, Mr. Von Gordon, Dr. Dan Jones, and Dr. Michelle Owens.

For more information on Galloway UMC's website, click here.
