Welcome new families!

Sunday was an exciting day for PHUMC. We welcomed new members, including two youth on profession of faith.
Brett Brown joined PHUMC by transfer of membership. Daughter Ellie joined on profession of faith, while son Henry had joined in January as a new confirmand. Welcome Brett and his family!
Marley Evans joined Sunday by transfer of membership. Son Jack became a member on profession of faith. We welcome younger brothers Gil and Bech as preparatory members and husband Bech as a constituent. Send them an email via Marley to welcome them all.
Adding new families helps to fulfill the Grow part of our core values, Welcome, Grow, Serve and Celebrate!
We shared the news Sunday, March 9 that our Youth Director, Geoff Davidson, will be transitioning to a new position at a metro area church this summer. His last Sunday with us will be May 11. We give thanks for the phenomenal work Geoff has done in growing and developing our youth program and for all the other many areas his gifts have enriched the church. We pray for his next steps and wish him all the best. Send him your own well wishes here.  Watch for an upcoming date to celebrate Geoff as we wish him Godspeed.

Our Wednesday Retreats begin again next Wednesday, March 19. After dinner we will discuss the book Life of the Beloved by Henri J. M. Nouwen.

The season of Lent within the life of the Christian church is a 40 day journey with Jesus where we are invited to make room. We are invited to make room for Jesus, make room for personal reflection, and make room for our neighbor through works of piety and works of mercy.
Lent begins Ash Wednesday and ends with the renewing resurrecting work of Easter Day. Each week of Lent Parkway Hills UMC will offer some ways to live into this season. We hope they provide you with something you can do or nudge you toward something where God is already leading. You can also join us for worship every Sunday of Lent at 10:45 as we make this journey together.
Plans for our day trip to Natchez:
Meet at PHUMC at 8:30 am Thursday, March 20 to carpool. We will tour Rosalie at 11:00 am (Cost $20) then head to lunch at Magnolia Grill. After lunch, if we are up to it, we can tour The Towers at 2:00 pm (Cost $25) and then return home. You can still join the trip. Just let the office know or use this link so we can appropriately plan transportation. 
Thank you to everyone who participated yesterday for a Sit and Be Fit class at Parkway Hills. We will meet Tuesdays at 2:00 pm in the Garden Room. The class is 45 minutes long, and you will be required to sign a waiver. You must also bring $7 of exact cash or a check made out to Parkway Hills with "Sit and Be Fit" in the memo. We will offer the class every Tuesday through Tuesday, April 29 and then evaluate whether this format is working for our church. Feel free to invite a friend! For men and women.
Enneagram Retreat Update:
We hope you are making plans to join us for a retreat exploring the Enneagram. The Enneagram is a system that aids us in better understanding ourselves and therefore better understanding one another. Whether you are very familiar with the Enneagram or never heard of it before, we hope you join us Friday, April 4 at 5:45 pm to 8:00 pm and Saturday, April 5 at 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Dinner Friday and lunch Saturday will be provided. Rev. Emily Sanford will be our speaker. Parkway Hills women's ministry is hosting this event, but it is not just for women! Anyone is welcome to attend. Cost is $45, and we ask that you register by Sunday, March 30. Sign up here.
Join us for Sunday School! The children's ministry will continue hearing the many stories in the Bible as we journey through the Old and New Testaments. All ages begin in the Garden Room at 9:30 a.m. for gathering time and activities. Then the classes break into small groups based on grade levels to explore the Bible stories. To sign up to teach an individual class one Sunday, *click here or contact Haven to be added to a rotation.  
Save the dates, June 22-25, and join us for VBS at Parkway Hills. Children entering K5 - rising 6th grade are welcome to come and explore the Waves of Wonder at PHUMC. 
We always need volunteers to aid with our kids ministry. For more information about any of our kids ministry events contact Pastor Haven.

Top Golf, March 19: It looks like great weather to swing into spring together! We've got golf covered, but you're responsible for any food or drinks. Meet at Top Golf at 5:30pm, pick up by 8pm. Let Geoff know you're coming by noon on Monday, March 17. After that we can't guarantee you a spot. Adults, we need chaperones! Contact Geoff or sign up here.
Summer Mission Trip: June 28-July 6. We are partnering with Appalachian Service Project! We will get an informational meeting on the calendar soon, but for now, here is what you need to know. Cost: $375 with a $50 discount for each additional sibling. $100 due March 23, $100 due April 27, and final payments due May 11. (But don't ever let money be the reason you don't go!)

We had our first clothes closet day at Grace Place March 5. Want to help next time? Meet us at Parkway Hills at 9:00 am the first Wednesday of the month. We are back by noon. (Our other volunteer group is still meeting at 7:00 am the first and third Wednesday of the month for worship and meal service).
