First of all, thank you!  Thank you for responding to the call by saying yes to being a leader of our church this year.  I’m not talking about the cell phone call you received—I’m talking about a Greater Call.  I believe it was not a mistake that you were chosen.  Our nominations committee took their job very seriously.  We prayed and deliberated about who might best lead God’s people at Parkway Hills. 

You know as well as I do that leadership is about setting the tone for the congregation.  There’s more at stake in your leadership than just showing up, (although that’s part of it), or having your name printed on the leadership report.

That’s why I urge you to join me and other leaders from our church for a district training event at Anderson United Methodist Church on Saturday morning, January 28th, from 8:30 am to 11:45 am.  The last three years we have done our leadership training “in-house”.  This year we are going to join other United Methodists in the area.  Please take the time to read the flyer and to sign up for the training options provided. 

As I looked at the people who will be leading the workshops, (David Stotts, Dr. Steven Cook, Dr. Connie Shelton, to name a few), I am convinced that this training experience will be worthwhile. 

So, if you are in town, please seriously consider participating in this district training.  Be sure to register and sign up for sessions online.  There is no cost to the event, but signing up will help our districts plan more efficiently.
