Santa Zips in for Family Holiday Celebration!
Because of the generosity of the FirstCapital Bank of Texas team, our annual Holiday Party at Candlelight Ranch was the most meaningful celebration yet! We are thankful for new additions made possible by FirstCapital Bank of Texas, including a holiday meal, homemade cookies for decorating, individual Christmas gifts for each child, Santa, and more!
Bill Rives shared his musical talents and led holiday caroling for children and families, including the crowd's favorite rendition of "Twelve Days of Christmas!"
The highlight was Santa Claus ziplining in from the North Pole to visit Phoenix Center children! Thank you to the wonderful volunteers, FirstCapital Bank of Texas, and Bill Rives, for helping to make holiday wishes come true for local children!

Because of You... A Father & Son find Hope
During this time of year, many of us are giving thanks and looking forward to holiday gatherings with family and friends. Yet, for children and families who have experienced a traumatic loss, the holidays can be difficult. Many children experience grief and sadness, instead of the excitement and joy we wish for every child this time of year.
When Caleb* first arrived at the Phoenix Center he was just six-years-old and had experienced the recent traumatic death of his mother. Following this overwhelming loss, his dad’s world was turned upside down. By the time Caleb and his dad entered the Phoenix Center, their grief was paralyzing; it was difficult to function at work, school, or home. Frequent nightmares, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms, made each day seem long and unbearable.
In his struggle to find high-quality mental health care in our area, Caleb’s dad discovered the Phoenix Center. Phoenix Center is the only nonprofit in Central Texas where a six-year-old, like Caleb, can access evidence-based play therapy, art therapy, music therapy, animal-assisted therapies, and parenting support for traumatic grief.
When Caleb's dad first entered the Phoenix Center, he said, “it was hard to walk through the door.” He could not imagine a day when he’d be ready to have a hard conversation with Caleb about his mom’s death. Yet, when he left two hours later, it was clear that this was a different kind of place... a "safe place."
“The Phoenix Center is a place where we found hope.”
Generous people like you make true stories like this happen every day at the Phoenix Center. Your support changes lives.

About Phoenix Center
Our mission is to inspire hope, health and healing by providing the highest level of care to every child and family through innovative trauma-informed therapy and education.
Phoenix Center is committed to meeting the need for high-quality, affordable mental health care for local children and families.
When children have experienced trauma or abuse, research shows early intervention is critical for long-term well-being and health. Through our services, children in need are able to access exemplary mental health services and ultimately thrive as individuals and families.
Our Programs
Phoenix Counseling: Research-based therapy services for children who have experienced trauma, including play therapy for children as young as 2 years-old
Children's Groups: Therapeutic children's groups which promote relaxation, coping, and social skills. We use innovative, trauma-informed methods such as music therapy, art therapy, yoga/mindfulness & animal-assisted therapy. Research shows these methods are developmentally appropriate and help a child's brain heal and grow.
Parenting Groups:  Research-based parenting programs utilize evidence-based curricula with documented results. Groups are all provided at no cost and include school-based programs for pregnant teens and teen parents.
Camp Phoenix: Therapeutic camp sessions at Candlelight Ranch, including equine therapy and our own innovative therapeutic camp curriculum, found nowhere else.
Community Outreach & Collaborations: Innovative Trauma-Informed Care Trainings & community partnerships to meet the complex needs of children and families who have experienced trauma.  Our partnership with MFISD allows us to serve more children in need today - before we construct our future facilities.
