Absences & Planned Absences
If your child(ren) will be late or absent, please call the main office by 8:00 AM.
When a family knows of an upcoming absence in advance, we ask that you please fill out a Planned Absence Form. These can always be found on the Parents Page of our website. The form needs to be circulated among faculty members whose classes the student will miss, so it is best to start the process several days in advance of the absence.
From The Athletics
Department

The Athletics Department suggests that Academy athletes take all of their athletic items home nightly. Academy athletes must take all gear home  on Thursdays. Any items left behind on Thursdays will be collected, and athletes will need to see Mr. Isler or Mr. White to retrieve them.

FROM THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE
Next week we'll host our first prospective applicant and with that, the admissions cycle will begin!  Please encourage your friends and family members with an interst in exploring The Academy to contact Martha Tirk in the Admissions Office to schedule a visit. Campus Visit Days can take place before or after our first Open House of the year which will take place October 18.  Please help us spread the word!  Interested families can pre-register for the Open House on our website here.
College Fair
Academy at Charlemont Juniors and Seniors are invited to the 30th annual Northfield Mount Hermon College Fair. The fair will take place on Sunday, September 27th. You may arrive at 3:30 PM,  the fair closes at 5:00 PM. There will be over 100 colleges represented at the fair. This is a great opportunity for students to gather information and meet college representatives. Please contact Neale Gay with any questions.
Conferences
Our student-led conferences allow students, parents, and teachers to discuss every student's progress and what we all can do to support each child. Conferences this year will take place from 12:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday, October 22 and Friday, October 23. We ask that everyone please sign up online for a conference slot by Monday, October 5. A schedule will be created for you that includes 15-minute sessions with each individual teacher during your conference period. We will do our best to meet your requested time frame, but unforeseen circumstances sometimes require that people must remain a few minutes after their scheduled end time in order to meet.
The online sign-up will go live next Friday, September 25 and will be linked to a posting within the Bulletin, so look for that next week.
Blood Drive - October 2
The Red Cross returns to campus for their twice yearly Blood Drive at The Academy!  The Blood Drive will be held on Friday, October 2, from1:00 to 6:00 PM. Students will be bringing home donor forms, with the goal of every student finding at least one person to donate blood. Appointments can be made by filling out the donor form, or by calling the Main Office during regular business hours, or by visiting the Red Cross Blood Drive appointment page and entering our zip code.. Baked goods for donors are also a high priority, so there are ways for everyone to lend a hand.  We appreciate in advance your support of this important service event!
UMBRELLAS, PLEASE
The umbrellas in The Academy umbrella bucket are in need of replacement. Students use them to go between buildings on rainy days. If anyone has any umbrellas in working condition to donate, please have your children bring them to school and give them to Ms. Rizzi.

Cornucopia Auction & Social
Saturday, November 7
5:00 PM
The Academy Auction Committee is busy soliciting exciting items for the November 7 Cornucopia Auction. What can I be doing, you ask yourself? Why thank you so much for asking. One idea is for you to host a "Great Gathering." This is a fundraising and community building idea that we'd like to see more of at our Auction. We're asking our community members to host an event: it could be a hike with a snack at the summit of a local peak; it could be a dinner on your patio; it could be an afternoon of sledding on your homemade luge in January; it could be an eighteenth century dinner served in front of your historic fireplace; it could be a day of crafting or rafting or whatever you love and want to share with our community. Let us know your idea by filling out the handy Cornucopia Auction Form. Tell us how many people you can accommodate. Set a price per person. If possible give a date. We'd love it if you indulged your creative side and came up with a small display around your theme the week before the Auction. What a great way to raise money and get to know some of our diverse and far-flung community, you say. Why, Yes! We knew you'd like it. Thank you so much for being an active part of our community. We can't wait to see what you come up with!
Fancy yourself an amateur chef? Please read this to find another way that you can help ensure that the auction is a success!
Columbus Day Weekend
Pie Sale
If you have not already signed up and would like to bake a pie (or three) for our sale at the Ashfield Fall Festival, please contact Diane Bigelow, and pick up free pie tins at your student's Parent Night. Want to hang out with your Academy parent friends AND bake? Why not host a pie baking bee at your house? Let us know if you decide to organize a get together!
