CALENDAR NOTICE
On Monday, February 18th, which had been set aside as a snow day make-up, there will be no school. There is still the potential for Monday, April 15th (set aside as our second snow day make-up) to be a school day. We will notify the community about plans for that day (4/15/19) no later than April 1st.

Supper for Six Bags
Almost Complete
As of Friday afternoon our Supper for Six bags are looking pretty good! Seniors know what's still missing for their team bags and can help other students finalize things. We'll be delivering the filled bags to the United Way on Monday so you have one last chance - please bring in any missing contributions by Monday morning, February 4. Thank you.

Academy Art on DisplayThe opening reception of the 45th Annual Teen Art Show at ArtSpace in Greenfield was well attended, and Academy student work was given prominence in terms of gallery space. Nick F, Solly C, Tess M-R, Zoe P, Zeb F, Sophia C, Izzy B, and Ethan B all had works on display. The exhibit is up until February 17. Check it out at ArtSpace (15 Mill Street) on your next visit to Greenfield!

Summer Dreaming/Interning As we have done for the past three years, The Academy Summer Internship Program seeks to place high school students in one- to two-week, unpaid internships in businesses around the area. This is a great opportunity for students to:
- Explore possible career interests,
- Gain some working experience,
- Build networking skills with professionals
Possible fields of placement include: Local Politics, Artisans, Media, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Medicine, Animals, Speech/Language Pathology, Non-profit agencies, Law practice, Theater, Farming, Graphic Design, IT Work, Museums, Environmental Protection... and more!
Any students interested in pursuing an internship or parents interested in helping to find placement opportunities should contact Mrs. BZ.

Let's Go Bowling! It's Fun - and All Students, Families & Staff Members Are Invited
When: Sunday, February 17 (12 noon to 2 PM)
Where: Shelburne Falls Bowling Alley
Bowling is free (sponsored by APC) . We do encourage you to be "allies" for the food-insecure and bring in non-perishable food to donate to a local food pantry.

Mt. Snow Skiing? Friday, Feb. 15 (no school/Staff Day)
We are gauging interest in a day of skiing at Mt. Snow on Friday February 15 (no school for students).
Discounted pass prices for the day are as follows:
Full day youth: $39
Full day adult: $46
(Cash payment required; additional 10% off when 11 people sign up)
Rental equipment packages (skis, boots, poles) cost $27 for youths and $327 for adults. Helmets are $10/person.
If your family is interested in skiing, chaperoning and/or driving, contact Diane Bigelow or Dana Stiepock by February 8. A decision will be made by February 10.
Academy buses may be used pending availability of drivers. Otherwise, depending on interest, perhaps a carpool could be arranged.

YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID COURSE OFFERED - MARCH 2
Would you like to learn more information about how to support a young person who is experiencing a mental health challenge? Struggling with addiction? Or in crisis? If yes, then the Baystate Springfield Educational Partnership (BSEP) program would like to invite you to sign up to become certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid.
Youth Mental Health First Aid is an 8 hour course designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.
