Warm Wishes for Thanksgiving
All the best to all of our families for a restful vacation and a wonderful holiday. See you all on November 28 when late buses begin!

OPEN YOUR HOME TO AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

We will have two new international students from China entering The Academy in January 2017 and are looking for host families for the spring semester. We are hoping to identify families who are interested in opening their homes and hearts for a rewarding cross-cultural experience. Both girls are sophisticated, sociable and speak English well, and both come with a sizable monthly host family stipend. We have a strong support system in place for host families and are happy to provide respite families for short-term occasions when the usual host family can’t host.
Lexi (17) is from Beijing and will be in Grade 11. She is thoughtful, smart and interesting. She loves running, playing the guitar, and photography, and has a special interest in fashion.
Sophie (16) is from Jinan and will be in Grade 10. She is lively, fun and inquisitive. Her passion is debate. She loves Latin dance and will want to be involved in community service projects. She is curious about yoga.
Please contact Sabine Mauri to learn more about these opportunities.

ACADEMY WINTER SKI and SNOWBOARD PROGRAM INFORMATION

The Academy offers several ski and snowboard options during the winter season.  This letter provides details about all three. For further information please contact Athletic Director John Schatz.

From the Desk of Neale Gay

Greetings, students and families from the Classes of 2018 and 2019! Students interested in pursuing pre-college academic programs during the summer of 2017 should see me so we can explore options together. Some pre-college programs give students the valuable opportunity to take college courses and to experience life on a college campus. Now is the time to start planning!

Classroom Close-Ups

Physics 1 students in Mr. Almeida’s class work together to figure out where to start a battery-operated car so that a marble released on a ramp rolls into the seats in the "James Bond Challenge".
Tucker B. (‘17) presented on his trip to South Africa with the Experiment in International Living’s Leadership Institute. Marni Goodman, an admissions counselor at the Experiment, also presented to students about Experiment programs and the application process. Click here for more information on the opportunities that the Experiment in International Living offers to grades 9-12 students.

The Cornucopia Auction

Last Saturday, the 13th annual Cornucopia Auction and Social brought together our community in support of The Academy. Those in attendance were treated to delicious food and drink, excellent company, and a dazzling display of wonderful items on which to bid. The Academy offers thanks to all who attended, winning bidders, underwriters, volunteers, student helpers, and special thanks to the APC auction committee led by Phoebe Walker P17, 21 (pictured with her father, Tony).
