Debra Hammond, longtime executive director of the University Student Union, reflects on her years of mentoring students and staff, what’s changed over the years and the bright future ahead — for the USU and for herself in retirement.

The annual celebration marks its 39th year on campus, showcasing culture and pride for Southern California’s Native American tribes. All are welcome!

This year’s alumni honorees are Rudy Pereira ’85, president and CEO of Premier America Credit Union; Pamela Villaseñor ’06, director of Pukúu Cultural Community Services; and William Watkins ’74, CSUN’s vice president for Student Affairs and dean of students, who is celebrating 50 years of service to the university.

No classes are in session Thursday, Nov. 28, through Sunday, Dec. 1. Classes resume Monday, Dec. 2. Have a wonderful holiday weekend, Matadors!

The last weekend classes of the semester meet Dec. 7-8. The last weekday of instruction is Dec. 10. Check your final exam schedule in the CSUN Portal and with your professors.

In the final days of the Reign of Terror, members of the Carmel of Compiègne, France (an order of nuns and lay sisters) must make an impossible decision: to abandon their faith or stay strong in the face of the cruelest punishment. This modern opera masterpiece comes to the Campus Theatre on Nov. 21-24.

Two of The Soraya’s most popular choreographers will return, with works performed by the center’s resident dance company. The evening will include “Chamber” and “Silent Tides” by Ballet BC’s Artistic Director, Medhi Walerski, and Crystal Pite’s “Frontier.” 

The first 50 students in the door for the 2 p.m. game on Wednesday, Nov. 27, will score a Blaze Pizza gift card! Don’t miss this afternoon matchup, as the Matador women take on local rivals Pepperdine. Don’t forget: CSUN students, faculty and staff members also get in free!
