Loyola Community,
Facing a hurricane during a pandemic is a very challenging prospect. Here are some tips for evacuating if you need to do so, and instructions for students in case you receive positive COVID-19 test results while campus operations are temporarily shut down. Remember to continue to follow all of our health and safety guidelines as we ride out the storm. The Loyola community is very resilient, and we will get through this challenge with the same care and concern that we always show each other.
If you are COVID positive and choose to evacuate, please do so in the safest manner possible to avoid additional exposures.
- Wear personal protective equipment at all times, and ensure that the people you are with are also doing so.
- Whenever possible, keep at least six feet of distance between yourself and others.
- If traveling by car with others, keep windows open to ensure adequate airflow.
- When you arrive at your destination, self-isolate in your own room with your own bathroom.
If you find out that you are COVID positive while university operations are suspended, please call LUPD at 504.865.3434 so that they can reach out to the contact tracer on-call and Residential Life.
- If you live on-campus, someone from Residential Life will follow up with you to help you self-isolate, if you live off-campus, please begin self-isolation immediately. In either case, start making a list of close contacts (<6 ft, >15 minutes) within the last 48 hours prior to your positive test (and any since then) and a contact tracer will reach out to you as soon as possible.
