| FoodWIse with Head Start families
FoodWIse has had an ongoing partnership with Head Start families and provided a 3 session nutrition cooking program for families with young children ages 3-5. One hundred percent of families stated that they felt welcome at the activity. Parents stated “I liked this event because I learned ideas to encourage my child to try new foods” and “I was surprised (childs name) tried everything!” The series will continue to be held at another Head Start location this winter and spring.

FoodWIse taught a 4-week series in Spanish at St. Willebrord Church
. During this program we discussed our food histories, incorporating healthy movement and sleep into our daily lives, how to outsmart the grocery store, and ways to include children in the kitchen. The discussion about children in the kitchen was fruitful since the participants had children of different ages and interests in cooking. We also were able to do some food demonstrations such as tilapia, with this recipe we had a good discussion about differences in culture using measuring cups and spoons. One participant said that she didn’t use measuring cups etc. until she met her now husband. When asked about their experience the participants said “A sido una charla muy interesante” (It's been a very interesting chat) and “Hemos aprendido y comprendido sobre alimentación sana” (We have learned and understood about healthy eating).
