Dear Campus Community Members:

The nomination period for the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence and the SUNY New Paltz President’s Award for Student Excellence is now open. These honors acknowledge students for outstanding achievements across at least three of the following areas:

Academic excellence
Leadership
Diversity, equity, inclusion and justice
Campus involvement and community service
Research and development
The arts (creative or performing)

Our recognition of New Paltz students depends on nominations submitted by faculty, staff and administrators. If you know of a student who is deserving of this honor, we hope you will consider working with them to complete the details of the nomination form. 

All nominations are due by Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at 5 p.m.

Only students graduating between June 2025 and May 2026 will be considered.

Please note that you CANNOT SAVE work in the form and return back to it. We recommend reviewing the form first to understand what information is required, then working on a locally saved copy of your submission, before you copy and paste it into the submission form when you are ready. 

About the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence

SUNY seeks students who have best demonstrated the integration of SUNY excellence within many aspects of their lives. The achievements and accomplishments listed in their nomination should reflect why they are one of the top students SUNY-wide. Achievements and accomplishments must have been attained while enrolled at SUNY New Paltz. Awards or recognition from previous institutions will not be considered. Nominations with measurable, long-term accomplishments and achievements will be rated higher. Similarly, student achievements that positively impact the greater campus community and/or local communities will be valued higher than other achievements.

About the SUNY New Paltz President’s Award for Student Excellence

The President’s Award is the highest recognition bestowed upon students at the campus level. Each year, this award pays tribute to 10 to 15 students who demonstrated outstanding achievement in the same areas as the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence.
