As we progress through October, the Office of Student Veterans seeks to provide various opportunities for community development, fellowship, and relaxation for Duke Student Veterans. We hope you enjoyed your fall break and feeling refreshed to tackle the remainder of your semester. On-Campus Early Voting Location

Early voting is open! One-stop early voting will be held at Karsh Alumni and Visitors Center from Thursday, October 17 to November 2, 2024, for voters registered in Durham CountySame-day voter registration will also be available during this time. Make sure you have an acceptable form of voter ID.
For any other students needing a physical DukeCard to use as a photo ID to vote, you can get one printed either at the Wilder Building during early voting or at the DukeCard Office on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. No appointment is necessary.

Welcome Home Block Party Flyer
 You are formally invited to attend the Innagural Welcome Home Block Party event hosted by the Durham VA Health Care System, Veterans Service Organizations, non-profits, and community service providers. This highly anticipated event will be held at the Durham VA Health Care System (DVAHCS) main campus on Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The goal of this event is to provide a full range of services and assistance to Post-9/11 Veterans and their families ensuring they fully transition into the VA healthcare system without any gaps in service. This is a family-friendly event and welcome your support and participation with the event. OSV Monthly Social

The Office of Student Veterans is sponsoring a casual social engagement on October 24th, 2024 from 1600-1800 at the Devil's Krafthouse. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet on campus for fellowship with other student veterans. Drinks and appetizers will be provided by OSV.

The Past, Present, and Future of US Foreign Policy:  A Conversation with Elbridge Colby

On Monday, October 28th, the Duke Program in American Grand Strategy presents: The Past, Present, and Future of US Foreign Policy A Conversation with Elbridge Colby. The event will be hosted by Professor Peter Feaver in Sanford 04 (located in the Sanford School of Public Policy) at 5:30 PM. More information about Elbridge Colby and the event can be found here.

Congressional Veterans' Briefing with Congresswoman Valerie Foushee

In honor of Veterans Day, Congresswoman Valeria Foushee of NC's 4th District invites veterans, their families, and the organizations that serve them to a Congressional Veterans’ Briefing on Thursday, November 7, from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM in Hillsborough.

This briefing will allow attendees to learn more about the resources available to veterans and receive updates on veteran-related issues. Congresswoman Foushee will be joined by Chief Deputy Secretary Brian Pierce of the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and local veterans' services experts from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Benefits Administration, as special guests.

This event is open to all, but seating is limited. Please confirm your attendance in advance by visiting 2024NC04VeteransBriefing.eventbrite.com. The address and parking information will be emailed to all registered attendees on Tuesday, November 5.

Save the Date: DAFA Veterans Day 5K

Duke Armed Forces Association (DAFA) is hosting its annual Veterans Day 5K on November 9th. Join DAFA and the broader Duke community for the Veterans Day event. Keep an eye out for a registration link coming soon.

Save the Date: Duke Military Appreciation Game

This year's tailgate will be hosted on November 23 for the Duke vs. Virginia Tech game! Details to be released. For now, mark the date down on your calendar and get excited!
