The new academic year begins soon, and we’re very excited to welcome you to campus! This year marks the 175th anniversary of the founding of Ole Miss, so it’s fitting that we will welcome our largest freshman class ever!
Our Student Affairs team is here for you. Below is a breakdown of some of the resources and support services that they provide to help you thrive at Ole Miss.
We have a jam-packed year ahead, so bring your patience! Plan your daily schedule on campus to make the most of your time between classes. Consider grabbing lunch during off-peak hours, and leave plenty of time to cross campus for class or an appointment. Our campus map is a great resource featuring temporary road closures and other details you won’t find on Google Maps!
Check these resources often to know what’s happening around campus:
- Read your email daily! Professors and campus offices will email you with important info.
Every Tuesday, the student-written email newsletter The Powder Blue delivers UM student news and information.
Follow Ole Miss Student Hub on Instagram, X and Facebook to learn about key student services.
- Hotty Toddy TV shares campus events and important things to know on TV monitors in academic buildings, and is updated daily.
- The ForUM is where you can find campus events, including opportunities for community involvement and events posted by registered student organizations.
Don’t miss these upcoming events:
Days of Champions include three weeks of welcome events beginning Monday, Aug. 14.
- Fall Convocation is Tuesday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. in the SJB Pavilion. Convocation is the official, traditional welcome for new UM students.
Adopt these safety habits:
Save your cell number in your myOleMiss contact info to receive RebAlert text messages for public safety alerts and important university-wide info.
- Follow @RebAlert on X.
- Download the campus safety and emergency communications app, Rave Guardian, and enable full permissions for timely info.
- More people means more cars! Keep your head up when crossing the street, use the crosswalks and be cautious when driving on campus.
Whether this is your first year at Ole Miss or it’s been a minute, here are some reminders about how to keep up with your classes and get the most out of your education.
Go to class! It’s why you’re here, right?
Study time: Give yourself more time than you think you need to prepare for class, study for a test or write a paper. Life happens no matter how much schoolwork you have during a week, so give yourself wiggle room to avoid last-minute worries about finishing an assignment.
Ask for help! We all need a little extra support sometimes. The Center for Student Success and First-Year Experience offers academic coaching, tutoring, academic advising and success workshops for students in all years. Also, ask your professors for suggestions for where to find extra help.

College is a busy, exciting time and you may find you need reminders to take care of the basics – your mental health, physical health and having fun while staying true to yourself.
UM’s many mental health resources include:
Care for your physical health with:
Campus Recreation’s state-of-the-art exercise facilities, group fitness classes, intramural sports and field trips,
University Health Services provides confidential health care, immunizations, pharmacy services, urgent care and more, and
Grove Grocery offers groceries, toiletries, cleaning products and meal swipes to any student experiencing food or financial insecurity.
Find your place on campus! Getting involved on campus can do as much good for your grades and wellbeing as studying and making new friends. Join a registered student organization, check the Fall sports calendar or lend your time to a cause that inspires you.
The fall is a special time of year at Ole Miss, full of excitement and potential. We hope you take full advantage of your Ole Miss experience by succeeding in your classes and in maintaining your personal wellbeing. Allow yourself to be inspired and motivated by what interests you. You can learn so much from your professors, your classmates and the world around you!
Here’s to an amazing year ahead! Hotty Toddy!
