St. Vincent de Paul Technical Issues/Contact Information
St. Vincent de Paul School and Parish servers were attacked by outside hackers. This resulted in the shut-down of our phone system and email capabilities. Don Claussen, Ray Bentzen, Tom Peal, and an outside consultant have been working tirelessly on restoring service. The problems have not been resolved, and may not be for several days/weeks. We have been able to set up an alternate phone with the school number, (402) 492-2111, if you need to reach the school. You can also email attendance@svdpomaha.org. At this point, teacher emails are still not working. Your child's teacher will notify you when his/her email is operational again. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused for our families and staff.

From Nurse Pisarik
Due to the unfortunate situation with the school email and phone system, I cannot notify families of positive COVID cases as I am normally able to do. During the time of our communication issues, we have been notified of four new cases within the student population. Please pray for mild cases for the individuals and for their families. The cases have been in 2nd grade, 5th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade. If you have a child in one of these grades, please monitor him/her for any symptoms through December 29, 2021. I will be praying for all of you to have a happy and HEALTHY holiday break!

Inclement Weather (Please Read - Early Release Change)
With the cold and snow upon us, we want to remind you about the expectations for winter apparel at recess time. For all students in grades K-8, winter coats, gloves or mittens, and something to cover the head are important.
School closings in the event of severe weather will be announced on local TV stations. A closing of Omaha Catholic Schools includes St. Vincent de Paul.
2-Hour Late Start: If the Omaha Catholic Schools Office calls for a 2-hour late start, St. Vincent de Paul will follow that directive. Morning Preschool will not be held. A standard hot lunch menu of Chicken Nuggets, Corn, Fruit, and Animal Crackers will be served. There will be no alternate sandwich or salad available.
Early Release: If the Omaha Catholic Schools Office calls for an early release, St. Vincent de Paul School will follow that directive. In this situation, the After School Care and Child Care programs will also close. Parents always have the option to pick up their child/children early.

PARENTS: MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
Navigating Life in the Digital Age
January 10, 2022
6:30 p.m. in the Parish Center
Ben Tracy learned the hard way how comments made online - even as a teenager - can alter your life forever. Social media posts he made as a teenager caused Ben to be fired from a high-profile government job on his first day and landed his face on one of America's largest newspapers.
He believes that we must continue to educate both parents and students about responsible use of technology. Children need to understand the seriousness of their online behavior. Parents must be informed about the dangers of the internet and the importance of monitoring their children online.
In his presentation, Navigating Life in the Digital Age, you will hear his personal social media story. Other topics covered will include:- Cyberbullying
- Inappropriate photos
- Reporting online predators
- Screen addiction
- Setting family technology rules
- Positive social media use
Students in grades 6-8 will hear Ben speak on Monday afternoon. He was scheduled to zoom in late November, but had technical problems on his end that day. So, he volunteered to come to Omaha and talk with the students and parents!
