NEW CALENDAR STATUS FOR TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2020 (ELECTION DAY)
On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Brebeuf Jesuit offices will be closed, and classes will be held via asynchronous, online assignments only.
There are two reasons for this decision. First, we are trying to ensure that during this challenging time, we are able to provide our faculty & staff with occasional and regularly spaced apart days off for their rest and wellness. November 3 falls in between Fall Break and Thanksgiving Break, breaking up that stretch of school days. Second, we recognize the pandemic-related challenges that are anticipated in carrying out our citizenship duty of voting this year, and we would like to help ensure that all of our faculty, staff, and students who are eligible to vote, or to volunteer at the polls, are able to do so.
As mentioned above, students will have assignments that day, and it will still be considered a school day as part of our 180-day academic calendar. In that sense, it will be like a full, virtual learning day, as we have taken in recent years for weather emergencies. Each class will post an asynchronous activity or assignment on their Google Classroom page, but there will not be live synchronous classes on that day.

SEPTEMBER CALENDAR UPDATE
8-Day Cycle Schedule for September 9 - October 1
A link to download the September 9 - October 1 schedules is below.
NOTES AND DETAILS
The release of the next two 8-day cycles is meant for planning purposes only at this time. Brebeuf Jesuit continues to monitor state and local updates and collaborate with our Medical Task Force in determining our schedules moving forward. Should we be in a position to move to 100% in-person instruction during the month of September, we will work to provide at least a week's notice before transition occurs.
Maroon and Gold cohorts will continue to switch in-person instruction days. Also, during this next two 8-day cycles, Gold cohort students will have in-person classes on back-to-back school days on September 18 and September 21. This switching from one cycle to the next is necessary so that students in both of the cohorts spend equal time in-person for each of their classes.
Wednesday, September 23 (Gold Day 3) - Delayed Opening at 10:30 a.m.
Brebeuf Jesuit will have a 10:30 a.m. Delayed Opening on Wednesday, September 23. The altered schedule for this day is posted below.

In light of recent events around the country, students were asked to "graffiti" the wall with the kind of world they want to live in.
Though not shocking, Brebeuf students continue to show their brave, courageous and generous hearts through the simple activity of imagining a world where everyone is equal and loved.

JOIN US NEXT WEEK FOR PHILANTHROPY WEEK!
As you know, each fall our Brebeuf Jesuit community unites to support The Brebeuf Fund in an inspiring one-week effort, highlighting the importance of philanthropy and its role in being men and women for others during Philanthropy Week.
Philanthropy Week begins on Monday, September 21 and ends with Giving Day on Friday, September 25. Last year, your gifts raised more than $140,000 providing the necessary resources to ensure our Brebeuf Jesuit faculty and staff provide the formative, exceptional Brebeuf Jesuit educational experience – through strong college preparatory academics and teaching, spiritual growth opportunities, financial aid and scholarships for those in need, and supporting the operations of buildings, grounds, and campus.
Every gift to The Brebeuf Fund ensures we are able to remain true to the mission of Brebeuf, to the principles of St. Ignatius, educating all of our gifted and capable students, regardless of financial circumstance. And now more than ever, with the uncertainty that this year brings, we are relying on the strength of our community to support our important work in forming men and women for others.
Here’s how you can help us celebrate Giving Day:
- Give a Gift! Help us reach our goal of 250 donors on Giving Day by making a gift to The Brebeuf Fund. Gifts received now until through Giving Day on September 25 will be counted in our #BrebeufGives Philanthropy Week totals. Visit brebeuf.org/make-your-gift-online to make your gift online.
- Share Your Story! Tell the world what it means to you to be a part of the Brebeuf Jesuit community and why you give by using the hashtag, #BrebeufGives.
We sat down with Brebeuf alum Brian Martindale '15 to talk about his time at Brebeuf Jesuit and why philanthropy is important to him. To read the full interview, click here.
